Beloit College's English Program

Beloit College, to me, represents the ideal setting for my intellectual and personal growth, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to apply to this esteemed institution. The liberal arts focus of the college is what initially drew me to Beloit. As a student, I believe that I can benefit significantly from the broad range of courses offered in the Liberal Arts department. I am passionate about the study of English and the power of language to shape ideas, perspectives, and societies. Beloit College's English program is renowned for its rigorous and interdisciplinary approach to literary studies, and I am excited to have the opportunity to study with some of the most respected scholars in the field.

My passion for English is not just an academic interest but has been a significant influence on my life. When I was in middle school, my family went through a challenging period. We had to move several times due to financial constraints, which made me feel anxious and uncertain about the future. It was then that I discovered the power of language and storytelling as a way to escape my fears and worries. I would lose myself in books and let my imagination run wild. This experience made me realize the power of language and how it can be used to connect with people and express oneself. Since then, I have become an avid reader and writer, and I have even written several short stories and poems.
