“All of our dreams can come true if we just have the courage to pursue them.”– Walt Disney. A phrase which my parents had imbibed in me very early in life. Having been brought up in a strong and protected family, I have been blessed to have parents who inspired me with good values and principles. Education was always given priority in my family and there was no compromise for it. My parents’ support has always motivated me to achieve my goals.
Having been born and brought up in Bangalore, the IT hub of India, I was easily exposed to the latest technologies in the IT field. It was this fascination that led me in to pursue my undergraduate degree in Information Science & Engineering at Oxford College of Engineering, Bangalore, affiliated to the Visveswaraya Technological University. The four years Bachelor’s degree program has taught me that engineering study not only imparts knowledge but also lays emphasis on the overall development of an individual. During the four years in college, I was exposed to the rich diversities of Information Science Engineering study program through subjects like Software Architectures, File structures, Data mining, Database Management Systems, Object-Oriented Modeling & Design, Management & Entrepreneurship and many more. I was amazed by the vastness and depth of the various subjects. The experienced faculty along with exceptional lab facilities contributed greatly to my all-round development.
All my hard work and sincere efforts paid off when I got a chance to work with Amazon as a Catalog Associate for the US marketplace. I worked for Amazon for 3 years and had been focused mainly on process learning, mentoring, process streamlining, extreme standards of quality and high-performance deliverance across all operation. It has been a great learning experience while working and supporting US vendors on creating, updating, enhancing their product catalog. Thus, I acquired ample knowledge of the catalog from the very beginning and expertise drive me towards new responsibilities for the team. As an active member of the team, I was assigned with some higher-level tasks such as working with a couple of stakeholders for a walkthrough of the process understanding, providing training and learning sessions to the new hires, work with Quality Analyst department and to start monitoring the team quality, send quality reports and feedback to the peers to improve team quality performance. I was awarded the “Extra Mile Award' for going beyond my job purview and the “Customer Delight Award” for my consistent efforts or earning and retaining customer’s trust. All my efforts to make my team successful were highly appreciated by my manager and my colleagues.
“A leader is one who seeks best for those he serves.” I firmly believed in this statement and understood the fact that in order to face the modern world complexities, I will have to imbibe planning and leadership skills at a very young age. I was a lead dancer/choreographer of my dance group at Amazon and under my leadership, my group won first prize for two consecutive years at Amazon Annual Dance competition. It helped me develop as a leader and taught me the importance of inspiring and motivating fellow team members and to lead from the front. I have always believed in giving back to the society and thus I combined my passion for Dance with it and serve as a volunteer Dance teacher in government school during summers.
After meeting an advisor (Dan Hussey) and a fair amount of inquiries from former students, I came across the Master in Science (MS) program in Business Analytics at your university. An extremely distinguished faculty, an inspiring academic environment, a dynamic curriculum and prevailing diversity of people are the most important factors, which motivated me to choose your prestigious institution. My eagerness to learn along with my extensive Engineering and Management background will allow me to function well within the graduate program. The Graduate Program in Business Analytics offered by your university will indisputably provide me with the right knowledge, skills, and experience to chase my dream and exploit the opportunities to the fullest extent.
