Head over heels, I fell in love with the art of riding on one wheel. My first introduction occurred at a summer camp. The camp leader, formerly a circus acrobat, added convivial excitement to the program. The most memorable of his efforts took place when he wheeled out his unicycles. Enamored and eager, I embraced the challenge of learning to ride.
Wholeheartedly, I threw myself onto the unicycle.
It candidly threw me off.
By the end of my first day, I had traveled a mere foot away from the wall and was desperately trying to cling for support. Becoming accustomed to the inevitability of falling was the most difficult part of learning. Although day after day I continued to fall, I also improved. Every fall and every foot gained brought me closer to fulfilling what my heart desired. Learning from my initial and persistent shortcomings, I unremittingly continued my balancing attempts. After five days of intense practice and determination, my ultimate dream was finally realized - I could balance on a unicycle.
Triumphantly, I climbed back onto my one legged steed and established an equilibrium. Knowing I had tamed this beast with tenacity, I gallantly rode forth.
