A Presidential Scholarship Experience: My Way

Chance, if you pull my hair one more time you're going to be in big trouble!" I threatened, trying to sound stern but ending up with a hint of laughter. Chance, the boy in front of me, sat in his wheelchair, grinning wide with a devilish look on his face. His mischievous antics were a part of our daily routine. "Chance, no one will want to be your friend if you hurt them," I gently scolded him. His face fell, and for the first time, I saw apology and understanding in his eyes.

This unique initiative paired academically advanced preschoolers like me with academically, emotionally, and physically challenged children of the same age.
