College. A financial burden on many families and students even with the help of aid and state funding. With the effects of inflation and an increase in demand, the cost of college increases every year with no signs of slowing down. Many students around the world face financial burdens and constraints. Within why college should be free essay we will discuss the statement in the next paragraphs.

'Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned'?

To start why should college be free essay, education positively affects students and society as a whole. One could argue that the growing demand, an increase in financial aid, a lack of state funding are all reasons why college should not be free but that is the exact reason why it should be. With such a huge demand and many students seeking higher education, the economy would skyrocket and more and more jobs would be created from college graduates. With a society full of higher educated graduates, a widened workforce, a boosted economy, an increased equality all around would improve society as a whole.

Making public college tuition free would be critical to today's economy - that is the first argument for the essay on why college should be free and in this paragraph it is revealed. With a higher education and opportunities for better jobs, positive ripple effects would occur. Free college would be a policy that pushes the US toward universal college completion and would pay for itself many times over. Free college tuition has been proven effective in helping reduce the system’s current unfairness by increasing college enrollment, lowering dependence on student loans and improving completion rates. Here in the US, there are already many programs working to achieve this goal. In 2014, Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam signed the Tennessee Promise. The program was for new high school graduates, it allowed them to enroll in a postsecondary associate or certificate program without paying for tuition out of pocket. With the implementation of the TN Promise, community college enrollment in Tennessee increased by 24.7%, causing 4,000 more students to enroll. Students who attended community college tuition free also graduated at higher rates. Tennessee’s first Promise group of students had a 52.6% success rate compared to only a 38.9% success rate than the other peers not enrolled. In just a few short years this program has grown exceedingly, because this is not just limited to those who struggle with money, the program is offered to all students who graduated from a Tennessee high school. This program encourages students to further their education. Other states like Arkansas, Hawaii, Indiana, Kentucky, Nevada, New York, and Rhode Island all established Promise programs in 2017 as well.

Most students simply cannot afford to go to college. Even with the government's aid and using loans to pay for schooling, it is still not enough. “During the 2012-2013 school year, about 10 million students took out loans, then in 2015 the total amount of student loan debt had been estimated to be about 1.3 trillion.” That's right, trillion. The average student owes around 33,000 dollar in loan debt. That is a huge number to be able to afford. There is always a fee to pay even with the help of financial aid, or large corporations like FAFSA, a federal organization that helps determine a students credibility for free student aid. Debt that may be too expensive to keep up with can leave the students with a bad credit score, harming their finances for many years to come, that pressure should not be put on someone at the age of 18. A college degree should require intellectual ability and work ethic, not whether or not the student can meet financial guidelines - that is one of the most strongest arguments for “College should be free' essay.
