SAP Appeal Letter: a Request for Financial Aid

My name is Loyde Almirola, my student I.D. number is 185501. I am writing this sap appeal sample letter to request that my financial aid be approved for the Fall 2019 semester. I recognized I did not make the Satisfactory Academic Progress due to my deficiencies to maintain a GPA of 2.75 from the Fall of 2018 to the Spring of 2019. During my first year at Columbia University College Of Physicians and Surgeons Medical School, I admit I had a very difficult time and my grades suffered as a result. This letter is not meant to excuse myself for my low academic performance, but I would like to explain the circumstances. For me, the transition from undergraduate to graduate school was extreme. One of the most difficult things I found during this transition was time management. I struggled with this most of all during my first year of pharmacy school, especially during my first semester. It was tough to learn how to balance my school work as well as my personal life and with this situation, my capabilities of performing well academically were held back. It was very hard for me to study for different exams and several quizzes at the same time. Fortunately, I found the way to face this situation and was to use my long-term memory; this worked for me during my second semester. Another obstacle I had was my poor understanding of my learning style and study habits. The studying methods that worked for me in undergraduate sadly did not work for me in pharmacy school. In fact, I realized they were not sufficient for pharmacy school and started to work on it in the second half of the year.

However, regardless of my issues, I have shown in my second semester that I am capable of obtaining better grades. I have learned how to manage stress and time by staying organized and being realistic as I can with my time to not get overwhelmed. I started to use a calendar and annotate absolutely everything I can on it. I wrote down my class schedule, exams, quizzes, projects, homework, and meetings. I found out a studying method that best worked for me. I pretended to be teaching someone else the material by speaking out loud to myself. I have been in contact with each professor in order to clarify my doubts and discuss difficult concepts with them during office hours, review my lectures, and read more the books. My current methods of studying have improved drastically and I will continue to apply myself by working hard to increase my GPA.
