Telling Stories in the Digital Age

The University of Washington has been on my mind since I first started considering college options. What initially drew me to UW was its reputation for excellence in the field of communications. I knew I wanted to pursue a degree in this area because of its intersection with the ever-evolving world of digital media. As a native of Seattle, the idea of studying at such a prestigious institution in my hometown was extremely appealing. I have always been drawn to the energy of Seattle, and the chance to attend one of the top public universities in the country was too good to pass up.

Throughout my life, I have been fascinated by the power of social media to connect people across the globe. As someone who grew up in the age of social media, I have seen firsthand how it has transformed the way we interact with each other. This has motivated me to pursue a career in the field of social and digital media. I want to be part of the team that is responsible for shaping the way people consume and interact with information online. I am particularly interested in the ways that social media can be leveraged to bring about social change. My passion for social media was further ignited by a summer internship I had with a local nonprofit organization. During my time there, I worked on a campaign to raise awareness for a cause that I cared deeply about.
