Why I Choose California Baptist University

My brother has been a student at California Baptist University for the past two years. He is currently a senior and working to graduate this spring. During his time at CBU, I’ve seen him grow and walk closer to God through different opportunities, so when I think of CBU, I think of growing in faith and learning to serve God through all kinds of majors. I hope that I to will grow in my understanding of God, my major, and my own personal faith. The confidence I have seen form in CBU students has been centered around God. As I have been looking for a college, I look for how a university can help me grow in my faith while establishing a confidence in the field of mathematics and education. CBU has stood out among the rest, when it comes to students living their lives dedicated to God.

Education is an important aspect in everyone’s life, and it has been a main focus in my life. Learning and understanding new things is an essential part of growing up. CBU obtains education opportunities other schools cannot. At CBU, I will be learn to enhance my strengths and grow in my weaknesses. The motto at CBU is “Live Your Purpose.” My purpose is to serve God, and as I pursue the path to become a high school teacher, I can count on the fact that the faculty at CBU will be pushing me to grow in my faith and education.

CBU offers a place where you can become independent while having God the focus of your life, and friendships are a major part of a person’s life. Friendships mold individual’s character and help motivate their believes. I have witnessed the Christ centered friendships that can be made by attending CBU. My brother who is an introvert has been able to break out of his shell and make quality friends that will last for many years to come. I have always desired those friendships in my life

I’ve learned that from my brother, current students, and alumni. I hope to gain friendships that will keep me accountable in my faith and will be push me to become stronger in my walk with Christ.

When I visit my brother at CBU, I can physically feel a difference the instance I step on campus. CBU feels like home. I can see myself at CBU, living on campus, growing in my faith, and living my purpose. The chapels every week, bible classes, service projects, and mission opportunities are tools I will take advantage of to strengthen my faith in order to be more confident in the Lord as He uses me for His plan. The opportunities to grow as a Christian at CBU are endless, and I would love to attend CBU in order to grow as a Christian, friend, student, and future educator. My prayer is that I will not focus on what I gain if I attend CBU, but rather what I can give back to CBU, to God, to my family, my friends, and to the people around me. I pray that wherever God leads me, if it is CBU or not, that I can be used as a light to this dark world and truly show God’s love to all the people I encounter in life.
