Why I Choose This College: My Purpose to Study at FSW College

The reason that I am attending Florida SouthWestern State College was the hardest decision I made because I want to be a role model for my sisters. What provoked me the most was the number of years I have to put in. My purpose and goals in attending college are to become someone important in life, impact the world, and set an example for my little sisters. Before graduating from high school, the whole idea of going to college startled me. I was extremely hesitant on the career path I wanted, and here I am going to explain why I choose this college for studying. Meanwhile, in this essay I also share some personal goals which I will be able to realise through attending the FSW college. I want to build a solid foundation for my career, a stable lifestyle for my children, and furthering my education to improve my self-esteem and confidence.

Establishing a positive environment and being a positive role model for my sisters is probably my number one motivation for my decision to attend Florida SouthWestern State College. Hopefully, with the example of my struggles, my sisters will realize it is easier to further their education earlier in life rather than later. I come from a low-income family where going to college and being the first in my family to advance my knowledge motivates me tremendously. Proving to everyone, including myself, that anything is possible, and that school is essential for my future is a goal I want to accomplish.

When exploring my options for college, FSW stood out to me due to its exceptional reputation for academic excellence and strong commitment to student success. That is one more reason why I choose exactly this US college. The college's wide range of programs and courses align perfectly with my educational interests and career goals. The opportunity to delve into subjects that intrigue me and acquire knowledge from experienced faculty members who are experts in their fields is immensely appealing.

One of the key factors that drew me to FSW is the college's vibrant and inclusive community. From the moment I stepped foot on campus, I was struck by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The diversity of the student body and the commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone's voice is valued resonated deeply with my own values. I believe that learning from and collaborating with individuals from diverse backgrounds will not only enrich my educational experience but also broaden my perspectives and deepen my understanding of the world around me.

I am very persuasive in setting and achieing high goals at the college as I believe it is the most crucial aspect that a student can make. For instance, without a GPS or map, a person cannot reach their destination. At the same time, my target is to graduate with a 3.0 GPA or higher with my associate’s degree in science. After my associates in Marine Biology, I would like to transfer to a four-year university to earn my master’s and Ph.D. in Marine Biology. I trust the process of college, and my knowledge will make a substantial impact on the world for a better cause. Before I graduated from high school, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my life, but my goal became more specific when once I graduated high school. I dedicated my time to watch documentaries and read articles to have a better understanding of the career I want to pursue. I eventually started to spread the word on saving our oceans across all social media platforms. I feel confident enough to be successful in college; not only did I research in-depth about the field I want to study, but I also love my major.

Subsequently, by stabilizing a solid foundation for my future, I will appreciate my financial support for my children to achieve a stable future and lifestyle. Additionally, by establishing a new and exciting career as a Marine Biologist, I will be able to receive the benefits of building a higher economic and social status to provide my family with the security that they deserve. The college's academic excellence, inclusive community, and commitment to practical learning perfectly align with my goals and aspirations. I am excited to embark on this transformative educational journey at FSW and make the most of the opportunities it offers.
