Why I Choose to Study at the University of Maryland

The University of Maryland is rich in diversity and has many excellent academic strengths that offer high educational opportunity to those who attend.

As a Latina Female student, being accepted to the University of Maryland would be a great achievement for myself, my family, and the Hispanic community I represent. I want explain why I choose the University of Maryland, also within this supplemental I share more about myself both in academic and personal spheres. As the University of Maryland is rich in diversity and has many excellent academic strengths that offer high educational opportunity I really fond of be able to become a part of it. 

I have come to a point in my life where I have finally saved enough money to be able to go to school without having to work full time. As you can see my past grades have demonstrated lack of intuition, yet I tell you that this is only a reflection of hard work. For four years I struggled with money and health issues, yet I pushed myself as much as I could each semester and managed to juggle school, full time work, constant migraines, and being a full time wife. There were many moments where I considered dropping out because I couldn’t see myself becoming a professional, especially not an accountant. Yet this year, I have realized that I can follow my dreams and become a doctor. My father's death this summer made me mentally absorb the importance and shortness of life. That is why I would like to attend the University of Maryland to earn a BA in Biological Science, and go off to medical school.

On a personal level, attending the University of Maryland would mark a significant milestone in my life. It would not only be an opportunity to gain a world-class education but also a chance to develop lifelong friendships, create lasting memories, and embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery. I am confident that the university's supportive environment, coupled with the vast resources and opportunities available, will help me grow both academically and personally, preparing me for a successful and fulfilling future.

In conclusion to the University of Maryland application this university is my first choice and the only school I wish to be accepted to. I make a vow, to myself and to the school to study my hardest and do all things possible to give my education the priority it deserves so that I may never be a disappointment to The University of Maryland. The University has all the aspects I look for in a school, from affordability, to ease of access and most importantly, excellent faculty.
