Why I Want To Pursue Tech MBA Program

The technological progress that we have experienced can generally be attributed to how we’ve been able to communicate and share ideas by breaking the language barrier. This progress has experienced exponential growth to the point where what can be physically manufactured is close to what the human mind can imagine. The actualization of the human imagination gap is still there, but it’s narrower than ever, thanks to the technology behind language interpretation and translation.

I envision a world where there is no limitation between how humans interact with objects and the environment as a whole. Upon graduation, my short-term goal is to work as a Product Manager for Technology companies like General Electric, AT & T and IBM that specialize in the manufacturing consumer-based Internet of Things products while my mid-term goal is to become a Senior Vice President and Head of Product in a major Trillion-dollar Technology company such Apple and Amazon. I plan to achieve these goals after IE Business school endows me with the tools and experience necessary to manage and further increase the revenue of a large-scale global technology business. As a Product Manager, one is expected to have both soft and hard skills to excel in interfacing between the Business and Technology side of a Technology Company.

A typical example of a Hard skill required to fully excel as a Product Manager is Business Strategy Mastery which requires knowledge of Accounting, Marketing, Sales and Product Development. In the IE Business School Tech MBA brochure, courses such as Financial Accounting, Marketing Management, Digital Business & Innovation, Operations Management, Market Intelligence to mention a few will help me create product roadmaps that align with the company’s business goal which could include increasing revenue, reducing the cost of operation or development. The skills I will gain from these courses will also help me lead technical teams and develop an effective technology strategy that will be scalable to a global market.

Furthermore, a Product Manager is expected to influence the outcome of deliverables from Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Development. To gain the necessary skill required to be able to succeed in a business environment, I will be joining FinTech, TechIE Conference, Big Data & AI, and Startup Clubs. I believe these Clubs align with my passion and will also help me improve my interpersonal and social skills. These skills are necessary to build networks while bonding over the respective goals of the Clubs. I had a chat with an IE alum, Udochuku Richson, who openly told me how the Clubs he was part of, helped him improve his interpersonal skills which he believes is a contributing factor to his success at his current workplace.

I deeply believe IE Business school will provide everything and more in what I hope to achieve in the Tech MBA program. I also believe I will help contribute to the impact and success of its global network of alumni by being excellent in my chosen field and showcasing what it means to be part of a great alumni network. I very much look forward to learning and forming bonds with students from different nationals. I also look forward to Life after IE, after being equipped with skills around Business Mastery and Technology Immersion. These skills and knowledge, I believe will prepare me for digital lead roles and in the longer run, help me build scalable global businesses.
