A Love for History and Preservation

Cleveland State University has always been my dream school. From the moment I first heard about the university, I knew it was the perfect place for me to continue my education. Not only does Cleveland State have an outstanding academic reputation, but it also provides its students with countless opportunities to get involved on campus and in the community. As someone who is passionate about history and preserving our cultural heritage, I was drawn to the university’s renowned history department and its commitment to providing students with hands-on experiences in museum studies.

When I was young, my grandfather would often take me to museums and historical sites around the country. He would point out details in exhibits that I never would have noticed on my own, and he would tell me stories about the people and events that shaped our country’s history. These trips were some of my fondest childhood memories, and they instilled in me a love of learning and a deep appreciation for our cultural heritage.

As I grew older, I realized that I wanted to share my passion for history and museums with others. I began volunteering at my local historical society and museum, where I helped to create exhibits and lead tours for visitors. Seeing the joy and wonder on people’s faces as they learned about our local history was incredibly rewarding, and I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in museum studies.

My friend, who is a museum curator, has been a major inspiration for me. She has dedicated her career to preserving and interpreting our cultural heritage, and she is passionate about making museums accessible and engaging for people of all ages and backgrounds. She has mentored me and helped me to develop my skills in exhibit design, research, and public engagement. Her dedication and commitment to her work have inspired me to pursue my own career in museum studies, and I am excited to learn from her and from the talented faculty at Cleveland State’s history department.

I believe that Cleveland State’s history department and its focus on museum studies are the perfect fit for me. I am eager to learn from the university’s experienced faculty and to gain hands-on experience through internships and research opportunities. I am confident that the skills and knowledge I will gain at Cleveland State will prepare me for a successful career as a museum curator, and I am excited to be a part of the vibrant and engaged community at the university.
