Education is a process of transferring knowledge to a person in order to raise their awareness about the core values of life and society. It increases a person’s knowledge about their surroundings, making them think and act in a more efficient way than an uneducated individual would do. It empowers the human brain to think critically and respond in the best way possible. It enables the mind to choose between the right and wrong. Therefore, to be an educated person means to have more wisdom and willingness to learn more. Being educated means utilizing the skills and knowledge in such a way that brings social and economic benefits to the people. Besides the fact that education can change someone’s way of thinking, education can also serve as a solution to all the social and political problems threatening people everywhere. Be it inequality, economy, poverty, racism, or any other problem in a society, education is the ultimate tool to solve them. This is mainly because the more educated individuals are in a society, the lesser problems are created. Therefore, education is very essential to every human being as it leads to better career opportunities, increases intellectual capacity, and changes the way the mind thinks and acts. Without education, the human mind is incomplete.

Having education can help people find better careers and jobs. Even though pursuing higher education costs a lot of money depending on which school one attends, the knowledge gained throughout the school years will pay off by providing the students with opportunities to get better jobs. Those who study very hard and dedicate themselves to education are the ones who obtain more knowledge and better opportunities. Those who don't have time to study usually use https://edureviewer.com/services/gradesfixer-review/. In “Five Ways to Wisdom”, Otto Friedrich claims that, “An education should enable a student to get a better job than he would otherwise be able to find or fill. In a Carnegie Council poll, 67% of students cited this as essential purpose of their education” (Pg. 98). Friedrich’s quote signifies that most of the students are pursuing higher education to boost their careers and get better jobs. It’s true that many of those students would apply to a plethora of jobs in hopes of paying off their loans or debts; however, it does not solely mean that the students’ educational journey will come to an end after they get the job. In fact, getting the job they have worked and studied hard for, is the starting point to utilizing the knowledge and skills the students had learned at their school. Education transforms a person’s economic and social well-being by elevating their financial status, enhancing their self-dependence and expanding their growth.

Therefore, one who attends college for higher education will have greater career opportunities and a stable income than the one who does not. Mike Rose, a UCLA professor, wrote in “Jack MacFarland, Our Lady of Mercy High School” that had low grades in high school and was not planning to go to college until he met his teacher, Mr. MacFarland, who saw some sort of writing potentials in him and recommended that he go to university for higher education. Rose took his words and started his educational journey (Pg. 86). Rose’s essay clarifies that education brings positive changes not only in someone’s knowledge, but also in their life and careers. Assuming that Rose had not attended university and completely ignored his teacher’s advice, he would not be where he is right now.

Pursuing education increases the intellectual capacity and skills. The human brain is designed in such a way that the more one uses it, the more it expands its capacity to take in more information and transform it into knowledge and wisdom. That being said, when a person starts to learn, their intellectual abilities and skills increase as well. In “Frank Carothers and Ted Erlandson, Loyola University”, Mike Rose explained that he had a hard time writing down complex ideas because he couldn’t form proper sentences. But when he started taking writing classes with his tutors, his writing patterns changed and he noticed improvements in his writing (Pg. 92). Rose assures that the knowledge and skills he learned from his classes increased his capabilities to write better than he could before. Consequently, education broadens a person’s horizons and expands their knowledge to perform well in all aspects of life. Getting education is an essential part of the human life.

Everyone, the poor or the rich, should use every opportunity they have to learn and gain knowledge. Some people often come up with varying excuses not to attend college, but what they are forgetting is that sooner or later, they will feel remorse for not completing their education. Lucille Elmore in Thomas J. Cottle’s essay “Overcoming an Invisible Handicap” claimed that she was a high school graduate, had a family, worked a good job with stable income, but the only one thing she was missing was knowledge, so she decided to go back to college at the age of thirty because she felt she was a failure without it. She believed she needed knowledge to form her ideas and more importantly think about them (Pg. 113). Elmore’s story asserts that everyone requires education in life, no what matter what their situations are. Elmore had already achieved everything she could ask for, but what she was lacking was the knowledge and wisdom that could give her the power to think and create new ideas. Besides that, her story clarifies that there is no age limit to learn.

Knowledge and education are strong tools one can learn at any point in their life. Education changes the way a person thinks and acts. An educated person has greater understanding of the things in their surroundings that enables them to observe, evaluate and choose between right or wrong. Aristotle, in Otto Friedrich’s essay “Five ways to Wisdom” states, “An educated man should be able to form a fair offhand judgment as to the goodness or badness of the method used by a professor in his exposition. To be educated is in fact to be able to do this” (Pg. 101). The quote clarifies that being educated means being competent enough to differentiate between the good and bad. An educated person has all the expertise to think about a problem, form their opinion and make the right judgment. Additionally, Harvard President Derek Bok in the same essay states, “An educated man must have a curiosity in exploring the unfamiliar and unexpected, an open-mindedness in entertaining opposing points of view, tolerance for the ambiguity that surrounds so many issues and a willingness to make best decisions in the face of uncertainty …” (Bok in Friedrich Pg. 101). Derek Bok’s quote further proves that an educated person studies a situation, values others’ ideas but not necessarily agrees with them and that he or she makes a decision. So, being educated allows a person to study a problem, think about it and find a solution for it. An educated mind can propose better and efficient solutions to a critical problem due to the fact that it has more knowledge and awareness than an uneducated mind.

In conclusion, it is worth mentioning that education plays a major role in a person’s life as it changes their mental, financial and social status. It helps people recognize their strengths and abilities so they can use them to perform better in their life. Educated people, using their knowledge and skills, can develop a strong society where they can enjoy a better and successful life. Besides that, education leads a society towards prosperity because where there are a higher number of educated people; there will be lower poverty and unemployment rates leading into a stronger economy. A society with a strong economy will definitely bring so much to its people. That being said, education is as essential as the oxygen is to the lungs and the blood is to the heart.
