I recently read Twilight written by Stephenie Meyer. There are five books total for this saga. I happened upon this gem of a novel while looking around the class library for a book to read, I was initially attracted to the book by the outstanding but simple cover of the book, a black background with faint pale hands holding a red apple. After reaching for it and reading the blurb on the back paired with the three constructive reviews, I knew I had to read it. When coming home from school every day, reading that book was at the top of my schedule. Reading was not a task it just became something I would like to do for joy and amusement.
I admire Stephenie Meyer's writing style because she has attention to plot, she does a good job of hooking the reader and pulling you in, Stephenie Meyer writing is always so full of so many feelings, every page was full of excitement you can feel how Bella was feeling at that exact moment. The author also has a very descriptive writing style and she describes everything in the book but that's the I prefer it because I like having a good idea of what the characters look like and what the setting of the story looks like.
The character Bella Swan was one of my favourite and least favourite characters in this book because I related to her because her self-esteem was not the best, she took everything upon herself way more than was necessary. One of the reasons why I like Bella is because she is very independent more than usual teenagers, for example, the story opens with Bella moving to Forks to give her mother some free time with her new husband. Bella chooses to go Forks and on the inside, she doesn't like it at all. She’s lying, because she wants to make her mother happy, and she is willing to move away from her school. As I was reading the book I recognized that Bella is head over heels for Edward, but Bella didn't have any dreams, goals, ambitions, hobbies that are a huge part of her life all she ever thought about was Edward. Also in my personal opinion, there was no love in their relationship. A Lot of individuals would agree that it's better to better to fall for someone's personality rather than their appearance. In my opinion, Edward liked Bella because of her “scent” and Bella was more attracted to his looks than personality, but maybe that's because I only have read the first book and their relationship makes more sense in the other series.
Although there are so many genres for this book and me it was awfully hard to pick because I was stumped between 3 genres but I came to the conclusion that it is Romance because the book Twilight focuses about a 17-year-old high school student named Bella Swan who moves to Forks and meets and falls in love with Edward Cullen who is a vampire.
There are so many themes of this book because it could fall into so many categories but finally, I think the perfect theme for this book would be Loneliness because at first Bella isn't exactly complaining that she is alone as she enjoys being alone but before she meets Edward, she is lonely. Edward is probably the loneliest character in the novel Twilight, he went around 90 years looking for someone to love before he found Bella. The Cullen Family are also isolated. They must keep themselves separate from the human society in which they live, but they are also isolated from other vampires because of their choice to have a vegetarian diet.
I rated this book the 8 out of ten because I enjoyed this story overall. The description of this book was interesting because I was curious about why Bella fell in love with a Vampire and caught my attention I was eager to read the book as soon as I picked it. A great thing the author did was being descriptive without making the story boring. I also loved the plot of the book even though I read a lot of cliche romance books online and in real life that is similar to Twilight. This novel was written beautifully and was very detailed, while all the characters were so incredibly real to the point where I could feel what the characters were feeling. Also, the ending was satisfying, I loved the way it ended because both Edward and Bella ended up happy. I would recommend this book to anyone who is 12 and older because there is some violence, some nudity, but other than that I think whoever is mature enough to handle it.
