My Core Values: a Personal Reflection on What Matters Most

When people realize how important values are, people try to focus on them. Different people have different personal values. This not only affects people’s behavior, but also affects the society they live in. For example, in a quaker society, people tend to be friendly and peaceful. I have found my three core values, peace, creativity, and learning.

Peace does not just mean stop fighting, also means keeping good relationships. As friends, we should be unity and support each other. That means we need to keep peace or keep friendly. Someone can get help when he has trouble. I strongly believe keep peace has great influences for any group of people, also important to me. Because it can help people progress quickly, also helpful to create a good surround feeling. For example, I have a very big project for biology class, I need to pick more than 30 different types of flowers in different places with data recording. I have to spend a lot of time on flower finding, but during that period, I can get help from friends, homestay parents or teachers. Also when negative things happen to me, my feeling is terrible but my friends support me and help to overcome. Friendship is constructed by peace, I strongly believe if I show people how much I want to make friends, people will try to build a friendship with me or at least they will not give me a hard time.

Trying to be creative person is my biggest core value, I think creativity can affect my life. Sometimes when I have some problems that need to be solved, creativity always can let my brain create a useful solution, not just be limited by that problem. As we all know creative people always can contribute a lot of things to this society. For example, the Wright brothers invented the first plane, a lot of people advised them to give up before their invention complete, people said how humans can fly, that’s impossible, don’t waste time on this work. But they are still working on their imperfect invention even though some people think they are crazy. Finally, their first flight was successful in 1903. These two people are my favorite historical person. They were creative people and great explorer, they made a big contribution to the flight technology. I have a strong desire to be like them, especially when I am flying. I can’t imagine how much convenience flying technology brings to people. This value has encouraged me to learn how to make reverse thinking, because it also can help me to create a unique ideal and encourage myself to be a person like them. I’m still trying to be an explorer with creativity.

Learning is an essential part of my life, I have to learn something new if I don’t want to be eliminated by something new. Because the development of the society is never stop. And I strongly believe learning isn’t just academic learning, people have to recognize this. It is a diversity and includes multiple new information. For example, how to use new techniques, how to climb, how to cook Chinese food, how to predict climate. Learning can help my brain to revolute and help me to answer hard questions. For example, I have been learning math for 10 years, and then I try to calculate some simple physics equations which is I also can calculate before I learn math. But after I learned math, my speed of calculation of the equation is much faster than before. Learning always can provide me chances to let me progress, and that’s how I started to recognize that learning is significance thing.

Peace means we have a good relationship that can support each other and overcome challenges together. We all are trying to be the constructor of peace. Contributing this society by creativity, use knowledge to change life. Humans can be a good scholar and learning from progressive. These three values can change my life, and personal values can help me to be a person which is I want to be.
