Introduction

Adopting a four-year-old child requires close focus on their psychological and behavioral wellbeing that needs to be highly engaged through integration of key social interaction and development aspects that need to be effectively considered. Therefore there is need to ensure that the child is able to grow with the best character based on how they influence the child’s developmental process. The social environment as well as parenting style that will be adopted will form a key focus on the child development process ensuring that there is a greater focus and understanding on important child development strategies. These strategies will be put in place to ensure that the child is highly engaged and has all the desired positive values that enhance effective development. This paper incorporates important development advice which the child can be raised and ensure that there is successful development where the child is able to incorporate key childhood developmental value.

Bronfenbrenner's ecological model

Ensuring that a child develops effectively, there is need to focus on the social environment and have a better understanding on how it is able to influence the child development process. The Bronfenbrenner's ecological model provides a greater understanding on the transformation that a child is able to go through due to interaction with the environment. The environment plays a key role in shaping an individual behavior and ensuring that there is a greater understanding under which it is possible to understand key underlying elements that influence child development process.

The social interactions that are considered in this case entail important elements that occur both at home and at school hence, a parent should be very much aware on the environment under which their children are engaged in order to monitor their behavioral development. The Bronfenbrenner's ecological model provides a clear focus on the structural functionality theory that provides a greater understanding on how social organizations influence the development of an individual (Tudge et al., 2016).

Therefore, it is important for the family to have an understanding on this model where they will be able to have a greater focus and understanding under which they will be effectively engaged and ensure that they monitor the social interactions of their children that entail home and school environment. They will be in a position to evaluate their surrounding and make a decision on whether it is perfect for child development or there is need to find another friendly surrounding where the child will grow with positive interaction. The same process will be applied within school environment considering the fact that it has a greater influence on child development (Rosa & Tudge, 2013).

Parenting style

Parenting style incorporates the manner in which the parents will decide to raise their child based on the underlying values they wish to have their children to adapt. It is important to understand a child and incorporate a parenting style where they feel the parental love and care which is crucial in child development process. Parenting style has significant influence on the overall wellbeing of a child. Parenting style therefore involves the conditions and environment under which parents expect their children to grow in.

The overall influence of a parenting style that is adopted by parents plays a very significant role in influencing the overall wellbeing of a child through childhood to adulthood. Different parenting styles therefore have varying influence on a child’s behavior. Despite the fact that the child is adopted, there is need to ensure that he does not feel like he is living with strangers but biological parents based on the parenting style that they consider (Crockett & Hayes, 2011).

Therefore, the best parental style in this case will be permissive parenting. A parent should be more than a parent to a child but as a friend as well in order to ensure that there is better focus on what needs to be done within a given interactive environment between a child and his parents. The parenting style that is adopted should not instill fear in a child but allow a child to understand their parents more in a more positive manner.

Permissive parenting is characterized with less demands and high responsive level. Parents are more loving and raise their children with high level of parental love and care. Permissive parenting style focuses on parents who appear to be very much loving but they put in place rules and guidelines, which have to be followed by children. It is therefore important to understand that these developments of rules has a very significant impact on the overall child development (Hinnant, Erath, Tu, & El-Sheikh, 2016).

Permissive parenting also has serious negative influences to children and their overall development. The manner in which a child develops has significant influence on what they end up believing. It is therefore an important consideration to understand that being in a position to influence a child’s behavior creates an everlasting impact. Children under permissive parenting tend to grow without a strong sense of self-discipline, which is a key factor in the development of a child. Behavioral characteristics of a child do not disappear as they grow but they tend to transition in determining their personality. This means that children with lack of string sense of discipline will be negatively impacted especially in an environment where rules and guidelines apply (Rinaldi & Howe, 2012).

Childcare approach

The method that is adopted to provide care to a child is crucial in influencing child development and thus there is need to ensure that the method that is adopted in this case is able to have a positive influence on the child development process. The fact that the child is adopted creates a very sensitive focus under which it would be possible to have a positive understanding on the overall development process of a child. In this case family based care approach is the most significant since the child will be able to feel the parental love and care which are crucial in child development process (Crockett & Hayes, 2011).

A child who grow up knowing that he or she is loved by parents has a very high self-esteem and confidence that are key in child development. Influence on an individual is a critical thing, which is significant in the sense that it creates a better environment where an individual remains focused in their lives since they tend to follow different aspects as developed by individuals who influence their lives. Parents tend to employ different childcare approaches in order to ensure that their children grow up with distinct values that they desire (Rinaldi & Howe, 2012).

Technology focus

Parents are expected to provide guidance to their children by ensuring they provide positive parenting where children can grow up knowing what is good and what is bad. It is this behavioral focus and early age that will make it possible to regulate the overall child engagement in technology since it will be much easier for them to relate positive behavioral traits to positive content when engaging in digital technology use. Therefore supervising is based on the level of discipline that a parent has been able to instill in a child, which dictates the overall focus and engagement at any given time. A child who is raised knowing the distinction of good and bad will be easy to supervise when engaging in digital technology (Wartella, 2014).

The best aspect to apply in safe technology use would be to review the content that is viewed by their children. Reviewing will ensure that they have a better understanding on the type of content, which is being viewed by their children and thus provides a better environment where it is easy to advise a child based on what they interact with. Most parents are afraid of having a bold conservation about life and social interactions with their children that is detrimental to a child’s development process considering the fact that they will seek to find truth from other sources. Another safe technology use at home would to lock sensitive programs as well as providing guiding the child on important aspects that need to be considered in creating a clear understanding on what is morally acceptable from a young age (Bornstein, 2012).

Culture and ethnicity

Culture and ethnicity provides a clear focus on a sense of belonging and identity that an individual tends to have in ensuring that there is a clear focus and understanding under which it is possible to ensure a sense of belonging that improves child development process. Culture highlights the beliefs and values that an individual is able to have while ethnicity integrates specific elements that bind an individual to the already existing social focus. Parents must ensure that their children adapt positive focus and understanding under which it is easier to have an improved sense of belonging. New parents must ensure that a child is integrated to their cultural background in order to have essential values that bind the child to parent’s culture (Bornstein, 2012).

Increasing a child self-esteem depends on the underlying parental style and childcare approach that has been integrated within a child development process. Positive style and child development focus emphasis on positive focus and understanding under which it would be possible to develop a better understanding on the existing child development issues.

Therefore, self-esteem of a child can be improved by showing a child parental love and care where a child is able to develop self-confidence that is an important aspect in the development of self-esteem. Another way that self-esteem can be improved is to ensure that the child social environment is very supportive especially the peers. Peer have a key role in a child development process and thus can improve or destroy a child self-esteem. The parent should ensure that they raise a child who has a strong character who is able to counter diverse social challenges (Wartella, 2014).

Socialization at home and at school

The socialization that occurs at school and at home is different but related in a way based on the underlying elements that are integrated within the different levels of interactions. Socialization at school is more regulated with the regulations that are put in place guiding the behavioral of children while the social interaction at home is guided solely by the parenting that has been put in place by the parents (Rinaldi & Howe, 2012).

Both levels of socialization play a key role in influencing the overall developmental process of a child and thus creates an improved focus under which it would be easier to have a greater focus on the child development based on behavioral and cognitive focus. The home environment improves the child overall development and strengthens their character while school environment plays a key role in shaping the overall environment that a child is able to grow and develop. It is possible to create a significant understanding under which it would be possible to ensure that a child is able to grow knowing important elements as well as positive values that can help in improving his wellbeing. Parents and teachers need to work together in ensuring that the child develops successfully (Hinnant et al., 2016).

Conclusion

The child development and future engagements will depend with how he is able to grow and key factors which shape his life will form a greater understanding on what the child will decide to grow based on his social interactions as well as mentoring programs that will be integrated in improving their overall focus and development process. Socialization is an important element, which will shape the overall environment under which it would be possible to have a better emphasis on future profession that the child will be able to consider.
