A Successful Career: Why Do I Want to Study Computer Science

Why do I want to study computer science? Simple question. This course will give me the proper knowledge which will allow me to succeed in my future vocation with greater opportunities. I am an enthusiastic and hard-working person who is ready to face any challenges at the university.

Volunteering at an IT store has played a key role to inspired me to make a career in IT This experience is what built my passion for programming and how software is developed and built. And how codes are the core of every software that exists.

Taking L3 IT was the right choice as I am interested in IT. Choosing this course has allowed me to broaden my knowledge towards it. Throughout this course, I have gained knowledge and learned a range of skills in computer hardware, computer software, computer networking, mobile technology, application development, cybersecurity, enterprise computing, and big data. this knowledge and skills that I have gained have made me interested to attempt and make small computer programs on my computer. In my own time, I have tried different operating systems such as Linux and it had enabled me to learn how to use the command-line interface. This had made me more efficient at using Linux as now I can perform tasks much quicker.

I’m currently studying about cybersecurity which is a part of my course this year. As the internet is growing and the world is moving towards the internet of things. Cybersecurity has become a necessity to protect individuals and organizations from cyber-attacks. I had an opportunity to attend a trip to a university where I learned the significance of cybersecurity, the impact of cyberattacks and how they are prevented. This trip allowed me to develop my understanding of cybersecurity and how it helps to grow the IT industry while keeping them safe from cyber Threats.

When I was doing L2 at college I did work experience at a car garage for a week. My task was to interact with customers and to help the mechanic with fixing the cars. This work experience was the most interesting yet. It allows me to improve my communication, time management, and attention to detail skills. Besides this, I was also given additional responsibility which allowed me to improve my decision-making skills. In the course of my work experience, I realized how much important IT is in any business. In the car, garage computers were used to diagnose all kinds of internal problems with the car. This system was able to identify any internal problems whether it was related to component or with the software of the car. By utilizing computers, it made the processes of diagnosing problems more efficient. Another IT system used in the car garage was MIS to keep a record of the parts of the car which has been used and to provide information on what to purchase to keep to business running.

In my spare time, I like to listen to music and do outdoor activities such as biking as this helps me to relax and helps me to balance my life. Besides this, I also like to do projects. Recently I completed a project where I build an AD blocker out of a redberry PI which utilizes software called PI hole which uses a DNS-based filtering system to block ads, trackers, and malicious websites on the entire network. these projects help me to develop my skills in IT.

IT can be a demanding career but when given the chance, I know I have the inspiration and ability to achieve success in this career. Doing computer science at university will allow me to develop my knowledge and archive success in this career.
