Today in the 21st century, one of the most discussed topics now is climate change. Climate change is any significant change in the measures of climate lasting for an extended period of time. In simpler words, climate change includes major changes in temperature, precipitation, or wind patterns that occur over several decades. In order to prevent or change this issue, we must produce change and stop ignoring the signs. This can be done by implementing change in ways from educating the current and future generations, reducing waste, and finding impactful ways not to be lazy and self-centric to our views.
In America, education is one of the biggest influences in everyday life. This is true from young adolescent ages, all the way until you reach college levels or higher. But, one of the things we are not taught in school daily is how to preserve our planet. By introducing new educational ideologies surrounding climate change to children and then to keep pushing it, we could impact at least one child to make a difference. We must speak up and demand change all we need is just for the agenda to be encouraged and supported. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle; one of the most common phrases in the world which we have heard. That being said, waste is another leading cause to the climate change crisis.
In America in 2018, civilians produced 38.5 million tons of waste. People globally have been fighting this issue for decades but yet, nothing is changing. In order to keep that number from rising and rising, individuals must find new ways to adapt with the times to produce results. This can be done by forcing stricter laws, fines, or even a reward merit system. If something doesn’t change soon, the world soon could be another landfill forgotten in time.
Al Gore expert from Environmentalism of the spirit depicts that people globally, not just in the United States, are not focusing on the issue of climate change. This is simply because we are lazy and arrogant. We are so focused on work, education, families, love, and money we are forgetting one sole thing. The thing being our world, which is pushed back and forgotten. If we lose it, then these things people strive for will be diminished in the wind. We must focus our attention on change and refrain from living comfortable, shelter lives. I know, I want my child to be able to enjoy a long, healthy life but, this may be impossible if the world doesn’t want change. If change is to be accomplished, we must be hungry enough for it. In closing, it is going to take a lot more than the reasons displayed in this essay to make climate change disappear. It is something that is not going to be solved this generation, or even the next. Yet, if we do make subtle changes, those changes can turn into monumental changes over time. The process will be strenuous, but with the will to hope, believe, and change anything can be accomplished. We just have to believe in it fully, and see the changes unfold right in front of us.
