Introduction

Today in the 21st century, one of the most discussed topics is climate change. Climate change refers to any significant change in the measures of climate lasting for an extended period. In simpler terms, climate change encompasses major changes in temperature, precipitation, or wind patterns occurring over several decades. To prevent or address this issue, we must initiate change and stop ignoring the signs. This can be achieved through educational initiatives for current and future generations, reducing waste, and finding impactful ways to overcome complacency and self-centered views.

The Role of Education in Combating Climate Change

In America, education significantly influences everyday life, from young adolescence to higher education levels. However, one aspect not covered in daily school curricula is how to preserve our planet. By introducing new educational ideologies focused on climate change to children and continually reinforcing them, we could inspire at least one child to make a difference. We must voice our demands for change, encouraging and supporting the necessary agenda. The phrase "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle" is well-known worldwide. Despite this, waste remains a leading cause of the climate change crisis. In 2018, Americans produced 38.5 million tons of waste (Environmental Protection Agency, 2019). People globally have been addressing this issue for decades, yet little progress has been made. To prevent further increases, individuals must adapt to produce results. This can involve enforcing stricter laws, fines, or even implementing a reward merit system. If changes aren't made soon, the world could become another landfill forgotten over time.

Global Perspective and Personal Responsibility

Al Gore, in his work "Environmentalism of the Spirit," illustrates that people globally, not just in the United States, are not adequately focusing on climate change. This is partly because of laziness and arrogance. We are so engrossed in work, education, families, love, and money that we neglect the most crucial aspect—our world, which is often pushed aside and forgotten. If we lose it, these pursuits will dissipate like dust in the wind. We must focus our attention on change and avoid living comfortably sheltered lives. I want my child to enjoy a long, healthy life, but this may be impossible if the world doesn't embrace change. We must be sufficiently driven to achieve change.

Conclusion

In conclusion, addressing climate change requires more than the solutions discussed in this essay. It is a challenge that may not be resolved in this generation or even the next. However, subtle changes can evolve into monumental transformations over time. The process will be demanding, but with hope, belief, and a commitment to change, anything is achievable. We must fully believe in it and witness the changes unfold before us.
