Law should protect citizen from criminals like Jorden Belfort, who use power and position to defraud the people and economy. In The Wolf of Wall Street (2013 film), we see an example of a white-collar crime where Jorden Belfort defraud stock investors. The main purpose of criminal justice is to prevent crime by using criminal law, where the system depend mainly on administrative law and sentencing or imprisonment. Criminal justice aims at controlling harmful behavior. The system prevent people like Jorden Belfort in violating the law because of the influence and social class they hold in the society (The interactionism view theory), the system force the offender to comply with the law. In terms of legal intervention criminal justice, use multiple legal interventions such as administration law, criminal justice law, and civil law. Using criminal justice system, if focus on punishing the offender after he commits crime, that is why Jorden Belfort is send to jail. Criminal justice follow an oppressive nature in punishment, after Jorden Belfort defraud stock securities investors, he is only sentence to jail after conviction. The process of conviction only happen where the offender prosecutor convince both the judge and jury beyond reasonable doubt that he or she is guilty of the offense or illegality.
