A person's natural language could change according to their age and surroundings. In the Middle Ages, languages may not have changed the way they do today. Age is one of the variables the sociolinguistic takes into account because from the moment speakers are socialized to behave in a particular way, the way they speak tends to fit in with what expected of a certain age group. Young people tend to use a lot more profanities than elders. It allows us to understand better the correlation between age and language used. Slang is an example of what younger people or millennials mostly used.

Slang is words or phrases that are very informal language used mostly by youngsters or teenagers who belong to the same social group in the present day. English slang started as a language used most of the time by criminals in17th century England. Ernest Hemingway is one of the most admired writers that use British slang in his novel. The youngsters often use slang as daily conversations rather than writing. Unlike young people, older people use formal language for their everyday life. In America, people think that 25 years old is too old to use slang, such as the word ‘lol’, especially in the workplace. Slang has spread all over the country. To follow up on the trend that youngsters used nowadays, elders need to learn some of the slang words to be able to communicate with their children.

Some people haven’t realized that not only younger people talk in a baby voice but older people too. This is an ordinary thing to do and there is a reason why people make their voice like a baby. Sometimes they speak like a baby, despite that their purpose is different. Baby talk is a type of speech that is called as child-directed speech (CDS). Aged people use baby talk when they communicate with a baby or a young child. Older people use baby talk, especially mothers that usually make their voice in a higher pitch. This purpose tends to form built language and skills from a very young age. The reason younger people differ from older people in using baby talk. Young people talk like a baby to build a closer bond to their couples or friends and to behave or feel more comfortable around each other.

Fillers are words that used to fill sentences to avoid silence when you are speaking. Most common filler words used in Old Norse are 'um' and 'of'. Filler words are primarily utilized in conversations rather than in writing. There are lots of varieties in using fillers nowadays. Young people use filler words four times more often than older people. The reason it’s applied isto show that you are thinking and also because you get conscious of who you are talking to or to stall for time in answering something you couldn't answer. Examples of fillers used by younger people are like 'I mean,’ 'you know,’ 'right,’etc. While old people commonly use 'I think’, 'the thing is’, ‘therefore’ and others.

In conclusion, Slang has spread all over the American country. To follow up on the trend that youngsters used nowadays, elders need to learn some of the slang words to be able to communicate with their children.
