Simply, we can tell from the very title of this selection, that the author Ivins, is very much against guns. Well that is what I first assumed, however, after reading just the very next sentence of the article, I realized it was the complete opposite. The title, can sometimes, such as these cases, reveal important information that readers can conclude prior to even reading the article. And this is certainly a case of just that. Although, it is very misleading after reading the entire article. The author has no problem with the allowance of guns, but feels more restrictions need to be included.

Anti-gun activists are very common in the world today, their reasoning makes much sense, and there certainly should be more restrictions of such cases. Even with the high security and patrols of guns, many incidents and unnecessary actions occur because of them. As we can conclude, certainly in the recent Las Vegas attacks. The author makes the understanding of the major topics of these selections very easily by locating much information in the title alone, and even more so in the corresponding paragraph posted below. This is where the authors real feelings and thesis is located. The titled had hidden associations which misleading readers to her true thoughts.

Ivins concludes many reasons why alternative protection such as guns or dogs should be utilized oppose to the weapon of guns. But, I feel she is simply using these ideas as relatable topics rather reality. She is using these words in the title to create untraditional thoughts or conclusions that audiences may make. I was certainly fooled, I thought this article would be primarily speaking of how guns are bad and should be banned, like many other articles typically do. However, the author says that guns should be used but people need to be responsible, and their sales should be more thoroughly screened.

I feel a great sense of credibility from this author. These readings are honest representations of the truth of such issues. I feel that the author is successful in reaching her targeted audiences by grasping their attention early on. I feel the purpose of this article, is to show the importance of such issues. Gun violence is being completely regarding in irrational ways, and the bad occurrences are on the people and not the object directly. It takes a person to sound off a gun, therefore, people should be closely regarded not necessarily the object. Controversy is very definable in regards to such issues.

The audience certainly becomes aware of the authors views quite easily. And to some degree, relate to them as well. I know, personally, I did. I feel that this selection is certainly a persuasive one in nature. Many of the ideas presented by Ivins revealed these facts. Audiences, whether they are aware of the fact or not, and intrigued and persuaded to think one way or another after reading this selection. I feel that this idea is consistent in the opinions of other who read this article. Guns are not necessarily bad in their own, rather people make bad choices. I feel much more informed about gun use in this country after reading such articles.

Overall, I was pleased with the information presented in this article. There were many valid points made by the author, and I feel many could benefit from reading this as well. Biases were not located, and honest opinions were utilized. Guns are a difficult topic to discuss, because, naturally, a bad experience will give the individual a bad feeling on these weapons. There are many reasons that people should have guns, primarily safety. Although other uses such as hunting are another. In the Constitution, Americans are granted the right to bear arms, and this right will most likely not be taken away, but it doesn’t have to with responsible use.
