It is well known that drugs as cocaine, marihuana, heroin or any other drug have destructive consequences on addicts. It is often said by the opponents of legalizing drugs that it can lead to health problems since it is dangerous to the body especially the brain, and many cases of young people have died because of the overdose. Also, they claim that legalization would decrease price and increase availability. On the flip side, if the government legalizes drugs that will solve many essence problems as reducing drug related crime, and making the addicts safer.

The current argument about legalizing drugs identifies an interesting viewpoint on reducing drug related crimes. Addiction spills over into the criminal realm; people resort to criminal behavior as stealing or killing innocent people to gain money for drugs. To strengthen such approach, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, classified that almost a quarter of prisoners incarcerated on drugs crimes to obtain money for drugs. Instead if it is legalized addicts will stop committing crimes to support their habit. Another line of thought on reducing crimes, that is, drug war. To illustrate the drug black markets that are worth tens of billions of dollars would vanish, the empires of drug gangsters would collapse and thus crimes committed by drug traffickers as they attempt to expand or protect their trade will plummet. As a matter of fact, all these crimes done by addicts or deals will disappear if drugs were legal.

Building on from the idea that government should legalize drugs to cut off crimes, this section illustrates how it makes addicts safer. In a sense, there is no need to buy from a street hustler when you can get a cheaper, better-quality product at the nearest pharmacy. Hence the drug dealer would become extinct. As an alternative, legally-produced drugs would be subject to government regulation, thereby keeping the product purer than the average street junk and possibly reducing the chance of user overdose. Regarding to CNBC News stated that death from drug overdose exceeded 60,000 last year 2016. Another angle, providing clean injection with drugs will help in reducing poisoning, and that’s not to mention the importance of decreasing AIDS diseases. On the whole, if the government controls drugs supplement that will save addicts life in many aspects.

Clearly, Advocate legalizing drugs will cut off drug related crimes and make the addicts safer. As has been noted stealing, killing done by addicts will plummet, and drug war by gangsters will fade. Also, keeping in mind that having a clean injection with exact dose will make addicts safer from diseases and death of overdose cases. Finally, drug addictions should be treated as alcohol and smoking, that is, a health concern rather than a criminal justice problem.
