The report about the radicalization in the West becoming a homegrown threat attempts to help law makers and law enforcement agencies in the capital city and the entire America by providing a systematic indulgent of the type of threat that the United States of America faces domestically. The report also seeks to bring a solution to the uncertainty on intelligence that law enforcement agencies can counter the emerging threat of terrorism and radicalization in America. In an attempt to solve the existing debate about terrorism, the report suggests how best to counter the threat and an understanding of the radicalization process (Silber, & Bhatt, 2007).

With findings that are similar to other reports, the report by the homeland security department identifies various steps of the radicalization process to be practices before radicalization, identification of oneself, indoctrination, and jihadization. The report notes that terrorist plots involve people who have not been identified in the West. In the method of research, the report examines three cases of homegrown terrorist operations in America including the group that had been arrested in 2002 for providing support to Al Qaeda. Various Muslim groups are examined in the report, with an identification of the most recent cases in New York as the plot to bomb the Herald square subway station (Silber, & Bhatt, 2007).

The report written by senior intelligence analysts concludes that most of the Muslims in Europe are not well integrated into mainstream society as the American Muslims. According to the findings of the report, American Muslims are more resistant while they are not immune to the radicalization process. Additionally, it is concluded in the report that the internet is a driver and makes the radicalization process easier for the terrorist groups in America and Europe (Silber, & Bhatt, 2007).

The DHS Right Wing Extremism report by the homeland security issues a warning about the rise in the activities of the “rightwing extremist”. The report includes a suggestion that the economic recession and the existence of a black President in America could lead to a rise in the white-power militias in America. According to the report, rightwing radicalism in America is defined by the security department as an inclusion of the racist groups and sets that reject centralized power in support of the confined authority (Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment, 2009).

In the research methods, the report includes coverage of the top spot on the Drudge report and pictures of the Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. Including data on existing reports, the report circulated on various social media sites to spread the propaganda on negative effects of the election of an Africa-American President in America and the growing number of intelligent white extremists.

In the findings of the report, it is noted that the Office of Intelligence and Analysis in America has no specific information that the extremists are using to plan acts of violence. The report also finds out that the DHS has no information about the domestic extremists in America. However, the findings of the report have it that the rightwing extremists are in a position to gain new recruits by acting on their fears about various issues that have emerged in the country. The issues that the domestic extremists have taken into consideration are the economic challenges and the election of President Obama. The report concludes that the economic status of America and the election of President Barack Obama are the unique drivers that the rightwing group is using to spearhead the radicalization and recruitment process (Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment, 2009).

From the two reports by the Homeland Security, the report that provides the best analysis is the report about the homegrown threat. In comparison to the report about the rightwing extremists, the homegrown threat report considered the research question about the understanding of the thereat that the Islamic terror group that is based in New York faces. The research about the growing threat of the Islamic terror group in New York, it is illustrated that the threats to the countries in the West such as America does not rely entirely from Islamic groups such as Al Qaeda. The report identifies that there are other groups that have come forward to participate in terror activities for a long time. The report about radicalization also takes into consideration the activities of groups that provided support to the Al-Qaeda in the past.

The report about the right-wing group only identifies one group as a threat to the security of America. The report about the homegrown threat, various points are taken into consideration in the definition of the radicalization theory. For instance, the report identifies the phases involved in the radicalization process, giving reference to the way in which extremist groups have surged forward to enhance radicalization (Akbar, 2013).

The report about the homegrown threat uses the methodology of reviewing past literature in relation to the past. In support of the research, the report analyzes various articles to take consideration of the present situation. The experts whose literature materials were used in the report indicated how terror activities in America are moving forward despite the existence of the federal and state government. Despite using almost the same research methodology without trying to include other methods, the analysis of both the reports from the Homeland Security provides a clear image of the security challenges that America phases in the present times.
