Mega churches need to focus on showing love and compassion. In reviewing the different organized mega churches, it is amazing to see how some of the body of Christ has changed. People are not concerned about doing anything to help those who are in need. The love and compassion that they once demonstrated has waxed cold. The Bible plainly states that in the latter days many would depart from the faith and that their love for each other would change (Matthew 24:12, New International Version).
Demonstrating love is more than just saying the words “I love you.” It has to be done in deeds and truth (1 John 3:18, New International Version). These churches need to focus on the things that are affecting our communities. Families in the communities are hurting because they are in need of food, clothing, shelter, and other necessities. Mothers and fathers have cried out for help from the church, but instead of the church body reaching out to them, they will send or give them information to other resources. I look at the church as a home (spiritual house) where charity first begun. The old saying is that charity first begins at home and later spreads abroad. Displaying love is something that they have gotten away from far too long.
When I see people showing compassion, it makes me feel good, because the meaning of the word (compassion) causes a person to react to the condition that surrounds them. City outreaches are limited to a certain extent. They do not have the funds that organized or mega churches have. They have a limit as to how far, or how much, can be distributed to the community. Mega church organizations have membership to support them constantly whereas, city outreaches depend solely upon grants, taxes, or some other type of governmental help. Even grants are not dependable; sometimes they can be exhausted. It is time for mega churches to have a rude awakening to what is happening right at their back door, and focus on people who are outside of the box (their organization).
I am not against people supporting their pastors or churches. But it’s hard to comprehend how they operate within their governing body. Having appreciations every year, birthdays, father’s, mother’s, and any other day they can have to only support the pastor. At the same time, there are people inside and outside the church who need their support. They need to put on fundraisers or telethons to build up and help families be more stabilized in their homes and communities. It is time for them to start supporting the widows and their children. They are crying out for support but no one is listening. More religious organizations need to build low-income housing that will suffice the community. It will make people look at the church differently in the way of knowing that they are a true organized band of baptized believers.
Time to go back to the basics; if there is no program in the church that is reaching out to help others, then somebody, get one started. Being out of focus is not a good thing for Christians. Again, I say you need to demonstrate the love that you preach and sing about. The community needs you, so start showing love and compassion. Remember it is time to step up to the plate and put what you preach into action. You are constantly preaching and teaching love, but now is the time to stand by it. The main thing is that you are mega churches and can see that there is a need to show love and compassion. Preach through precepts and examples (James 2:14-17, New International Version).
