Western civilization is a term that has been discussed by scholars and historians for decades to establish its real meaning. Western civilization is a universal term that refers to several European heritage cultures that share conventional cultural norms, values, philosophical functions, ideas, and old beliefs. The benefits of these cultures, they all have a central heritage that unites its people, which has been a significant driving force towards the spirit of cooperation and development in many federal governments. America currently has become one of the most substantial melting pots for diversification of cultures globally. Therefore, this essay focuses on significant characteristics of the ancient world, Renaissance or Reformation, middle ages, and the classical world in the formation and development of western culture.

The ancient world plays a significant part in America’s cultural activities such as reading, calendars, farming technology, and feats of engineering. Farming activity and overall agricultural production which primarily involves crop farming and domestication of livestock started near east usually referred to as Asian continent and later spread to most parts of Europe more specifically in America. In America, agriculture became one of the significant economic boosters for the development of the vital national sector American nation has achieved a lot through intensive agricultural research and innovations. Besides, Americans are known for observing calendars to mark the movement of stars, moon, and the sun, which was common beliefs for Egyptians during the Ancient world. Similarly, the United States of America has brought some of the architectural designs from the ancient Egyptians and try to modify the background principles to improve their engineering principles.

The Roman Empire had a significant influence on American civilizations. The first settlers were the Romans and the Greeks, the Europeans built the Greeks the primary urban center in Europe and had dedicated their lives to Greeks philosophy, learning, and art in building and developing the current modern American society. Besides, the Romans built upon the Greeks art and philosophy through codifying and simpler logic and empirical data system and through the definition of essential aesthetic culture of the European architecture that was later distributed to the entire United States and the rest of the continent.

The middle ages period dates to the 1930s the period when the American nation was under the demanding and dynamic period of the great depression. It was the worst period of American history that lasted for ten years, when the rate of unemployment and poverty was crushing the American federal government. During this time, a new style of architecture flourished which was made in science and art. This event changed the American perceptions of pumping more money into the market without considering investing and reducing the level of employment to avoid the nation from reaching its economic peak while there is a decline in jobs and investment. It has helped America to stabilize its economy for a long time after the significant depression period; thus, middle age changed American philosophy towards the economy.

Renaissance or Reformation happened at an early period of middle age with its main goal of reforming the Roman Catholic doctrine practices which lead to the emergence of Protestant churches in Europe. Currently, America is made up of several religious denominations with different beliefs and practices that have transformed the way people worship. In conclusion, ancient cultures and civilizations have changed and influenced western culture and influenced the way of life in America and western civilization from the past and well into the future.
