Dunkirk is a movie about WWII. During World War II, there were many different battles fought and won. One of the greatest battles was Dunkirk. This battle was the turning point of the German army run by Adolf Hitler. Dunkirk stars many different actors such as Harry Styles, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, and more. The movie is directed by Christopher Nolan. This movie had a budget of 100 million and had a box office of 527 million. Dunkirk had twelve awards including “Best Sound Mixing” and “Best Film Editing”. Dunkirk was one the best World War II movies filmed due to the awards it won, the acting and, the props that they had.
In the movie Dunkirk there was many different events that stunned the viewer. The British and French troops were pushed all the way to the edge of the coast with no chance of winning, they were corned from all sides. This made the troops have no hope of surviving this attack. There was also only one dock that the boats could access to retrieve troops. Injured troops were also given first priority to get on the boat. This caused to take up too much space, one injured soldier took the same space as 7 soldiers. While this is all happening German planes were dropping bombs and shooting at the soldiers. They were also trying to destory the dock so the British and French soldiers couldn’t leave. Winston Churchill, the current prime minister, ordered civilian boats to help bring supplies and bring back troops. While this is all happening 3 British spitfires planes had to protect the ground troops. They had to take care of them selves and the ground troops that are relying on them. These fighters also have to take care of flight fuel and more to get back to base. One of the fuel tank measures breaks on one of the planes so he doesn’t know how much fuel he has. The best scene in Dunkirk was when Farrier, one of the men on the planes, had no fuel and was low on bullets shot down an enemy plane giving the troops hope of escaping. After he shoots the plane down he loses fuel and crash lands in enemy territory, which he is later captured by enemy troops.
In Dunkirk there were lots of scenes that made the movie perfect like the acting, special effects, and camera angles. In Dunkirk the acting was perfect, it felt like no one was reading off a script. Lots of the scenes felt like they were actually happening. The special effects were also amazing in this movie. The planes being shot down looked real which gave the movie a feeling like this was actually happened and it didn’t look fake. Another one of the special effects was the sinking of ships. When the ships were shot and started to sink they looked very real. Another great part of the movie was the camera angles. The longshots looked very nice showing the whole setting. One of the parts using longshots was when Farrier’s plane was shot down it used a longshot to see the place he was landing in and what was around him. It is said that director Christopher Nolan put cameras on the fighter planes and flew them around to get these certain clips which shows how well developed this movie was.
