Animal Abuse Around The World

In this essay I would like to raise an issue about animal abuse. “Animals are such agreeable friends — they ask no questions; they pass no criticisms.” – George Eliot. I love this quote that I have read on an article. Animals are one those things that we are grateful to have. We can say that there are one of the cutest creature we have here on our planet. But do we deserve them? Do they deserve us? It’s sad because those cute creatures are now experiencing the cruelty of the world.

Many animals experience the cruelty of the people. Many of them are not properly cared for, others are dying because of hunger sad but they cannot do anything but die without getting justice. The first anti-cruelty law that addresses the treatment of domesticated animals that is included in the legal code of Massachusetts in Bay Colony on 1641. The world’s first animal social welfare called The Society for the Protection of Animals established in England in 1824. Animal abuse is illegal in most countries that cause endangered species to give further motivation to the anti-cruelty movement. 

There are many ways and reasons for people who make the people behind these crimes. The best example for this is the Yulin Festival in China this is annual dog meat celebration that is celebrated every summer solstice in June it is believed that the dogs meat are helping to lessen the heat they felt through the summer months. About 10,000 to 15,000 dogs are consumed during the 10 days of festival but this lessens to 1,000 in 2015 but 1.5 million people have now signed a petition to end this festival of animal cruelty. According to Claire Bass UK director Humane Society International that this issue has led thousands of Chinese activists to stop this bad work. Chinese animals activist managed to rescue 62 dogs from a Yulin Slaughterhouse. Most of them are being cared of Humane Society International shelter that is located at Northern China. 

Cosmetics help us to boost our confidence but what if they have passed through the process that involves animal abuse? Are you still going to buy make up that is involved in this crime? Do you still going to trust brands whose testing their product to animals? This started on 1940s as a response to people who suffers exposed unsafe products. Some companies are still doing this as a kind of legal protection if the product will harm the person whose going to use it because in this case they can use the result they came up as an evidence in conducting safety testing. Another reason is the company may use a new chemical that can affect to sensitive population like children and elder people. However a growing number of countries have passed laws in banning cosmetics testing on animals.

Fortunately, we can still say that there are people who have big hearts and love the creation of god and giving importance in his creation. The Animal Welfare bill enables tougher prison sentences for the worst animal abuser that could face up to five years imprisonment. This follows a public consultation last year that results to 70% of people supports the tougher prison sentences. The court can decide even on a simplest abuse like neglecting them.
