Autism is ais a bio-neurological formative incapacity that by and large show up before the age of three. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it is evaluated that 1 out of 59 kids in the United States meets the criteria for ASD.

Geschwind DH (2008) specifies that autism’s manifestations initially show up during the earliest stages of adolescence and by and large pursues a consistent course without reduction.

It is recognized by a trademark group of three indications: disabilities in social cooperation, weaknesses in correspondence, and repetitive behavior.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual Of Mental Disorders (2013) puts together autism and less severe types of the condition, along with Asperger syndrome and pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS) into the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.

There is no remedy for autism, however, with early intercession and treatment, the different side effects identified with autism can be significantly improved and sometimes totally overcome. American Psychological Association (2019) stated that “Parent-mediated treatments, group models and combined treatments (medical and behavioral) are being developed and tested.” Results show that the association of the family in treatment has reliably improved outcomes.

There might be a wide range of components that make a child bound to have an ASD, including ecological, biologic and hereditary variables. Most researchers come to conclusion that genes are one of the hazard factors that can make an individual to more likely to have an ASD Zecavati and Spence (2009) says according to their studies “ASD tends to occur more often in people who have certain genetic or chromosomal conditions, such as fragile X syndrome or tuberous sclerosisexternal icon.” Children with older parents are at more danger of having ASD.

Temple Grandin is a different child who is uncommunicative and prone to anger (characteristic symptoms of autism). She is diagnosed with autism when she was four years old. The experts’ medical opinion, for the time being, was that autism was a type of schizophrenia emerging from the inadequate attachment of the mother which we now know is wrong. There may be a wide range of components that make a child bound to have an ASD, including ecological, biologic and hereditary variables.

Despite the suggestion of the doctor to place her in an institution, Mrs. Grandin refuses to institutionalize her daughter and she attempts to adapt her daughter to the outside world which we now know that involvement of the family in treatment has consistently improved outcomes. At the end of the movie Temple says “I am not cured. I will always be autistic. My mother refused to believe I would not speak, and when I learned to speak she made me go to school.” and explains that the reason she is who she is today is her mother. The movie correctly portrays that autism does not have a cure however, parent’s support is crucial to a relatively normal life.

Temple Grandin sees and understands things differently than other people due to the fact that she had problems with her peers in school and even in her profession. According to Oliver Sacks, (1995) “Temple Grandin described her inability to understand the people with normal neural development, leaving her feeling ‘like an anthropologist on Mars’.”

Also, Temple experiences sexism when trying to integrate into the cattle ranching business. Temple Grandin is a hard-working young woman with determination regardless of these issues. She focuses on achieving her goals and overcomes all obstacles.
