Man of Steel and Iron Man are the two subtopics which we intended to find out/discuss their plot and as well as film techniques. In part, this research task borne out of the need to fill key gaps in our understanding of superheroes, and why we need them in this world. Now my aim of this research task is to understand how superheroes are like people when their powers are stripped away. Will your faults determine the level of success which you will achieve? My hypothesis for that is, you will achieve success only if you learn from your faults, but not in spite of your faults.
Now when we look at the film Iron Man 1, we see that tony stark make mistakes but he learns something from every one of them. Tony Stark is a genius, but he makes mistakes as we all do. When he was captured by a terrorist group he is shocked into analyzing his embarrassing situation, and begins to learn from the mistakes he has made throughout his life. The lesson for us is that we will make Mistakes throughout our life, especially as we strive and stretch a little further than we can reach. It allows us to grow, but we become more prone to make mistakes once in a while. When heroes make mistakes, they analyze what they did, learn from it, and move on.
When we look at the film Man of Steel, things are different. Clark Kent (Superman) had all the powers in the world and still lived a life of humility. He shows us that the greatest power is being incorrupt. Clark’s destiny was to bring hope another planet, because his old planet was destroyed. His values were to help the people of earth. He has good morals because he didn’t turn his back on planet earth when his people came. Things for superman were difficult, if he chose Krypton, he would have betrayed earth, but if he chose Earth he would have betrayed his own planet. Not often is any person is put in a position to save the world or to change drastically in character. But we can always return that lost wallet with the contents intact, tell the truth when it matters, stand our ground when its easier to walk away or do unto other as we want them to do unto us. Everyone has the potential to be a hero because everyone has the power to be incorruptible.
The opening scene of man of Steel there are some parts I find very effective to boost the plot of the film, and how this is done is the heroic music to start the film/opening scene. A loud deep sound of music is heard before and picture starts to appear and the type of music gives a positive note for the audience like there is hope which basically what the first scene turns out to be, and I found this very effective like it gives you a smile on your face from hearing the sound even before any picture appears.
Later, he gets flashbacks of his childhood as he struggled to settled in on earth’s atmosphere and the way that is shown is through using darker colours, darker shadows which gives the audience a more of an understanding showing that even though he had powers he still struggled to live his life more than normal humans had done.
To conclude my research task, both Man of Steel and Iron man or should I say Clark Kent and Tony Stark are superheroes with their own different ideologies. We have proven or showed that without their super powers, they are just people like you and me, faults and all. But because of their faults, they learned from their mistakes and achieved success. Nobody is perfect even superheroes themselves are not perfect, they will also encounter some mistakes and learn from them. Superheroes are there to save people from Evil.
