While music festivals bring people together and enhance social integration, there are several risks that are also associated with those musical concerts. Events of this magnitude can bare huge risks and bring forth several challenges. For this reason, it is important to perceive concerts as serious projects. That way, organizers will be able to evaluate the risks involved as well as establish the ethical and legal implication of hosting such an event. Planning for a successful concert can be an uphill endeavor owing to the several challenges and factor that should be taken into account.
Concerts in London are characterized by fun and enjoyment but the downside of such an event is the risk that is associated with them. The main risks that should be considered both during planning and running the concert can be categorized as follows; environmental risks, commercial risks, cultural risks and qualitative risks (Upton, 2008). The analysis of these forms of risk enables the organizers to determine when, where and how to conduct the concert successfully. The environmental risk seeks to evaluate the appropriateness of holding a concert in various weather conditions. By calculating the risk involved, organizers are able to plan accordingly and set dates based on the weather patterns. The commercial risk on the other hand refers to the actions taken by the organizers prior and after the concert to ensure that the concert was profitable (Global, 2017). It involves application of precautionary measures such as security and insurance for all hired electronics. The cultural and qualitative risks are parameters that are used to gauge the appropriateness of hosting a concert in a specific area. It involves the evaluation of the people’s psychology and cultural practices. By evaluating these risks, organizers are able to determine the level of success that the concert will achieve (Concerts, 2007).
Several concerts have been affiliated with immoral behavior and illegal practices. For this reason, concerts have earned a bad reputation while some of them have been helpful. However, for organizers, it is important to comply with all government policies when holding a concert to enhance the well-being of the attendees and achieve the intended purpose of the concert (Upton, 2008). Organizers should make public the terms and conditions of attending the concert in order to shun away unethical practices such as substance abuse and sexual abuse that have been imminent in previous concerts. To reinforce the legality of the concert, organizers can also ask for security back up from relevant security departments near the venue of the concert so as to contain any encounter (Promenade, 2007).
