Pet Peeve Speech Example

Everyone in life finds certain things that are extremely irritating. Sometimes they are things that arent that big of an issue to others, however it raises your blood pressure in an instant. My biggest pet peeve is when I have to wait at the doctors office forever. Its so irritating and it happens every single time I go to the doctors without fail. I think its the doctors’ responsibility to make their clients as happy as possible, which includes having them getting in and out of the office as quickly as possible. So my pet peeve essay is about waiting at the doctor’s office.

Receptionists are usually the ones that schedule the appointments in a doctors office. What I dont understand is why they give you a time when you are suppose to come in when its not even close to the actual time that you get seen by the doctor. Whats the point in giving us a time when its not even correct! From as far back as I can remember, I dont recall a single time when I went into a doctors office at my scheduled time and was called right in to see him. The receptionists obviously have to have some sort of clue about how long one client will take, so they should schedule the appointments accordingly. It seems to me like they just cram people into the schedules without logically thinking about the time frame. Its ridiculous.

When I am sick all I want to do is be at home in my bed. I cant speak for other people; however, its not my idea of fun to be waiting in a doctors office surrounded by other sick people who are just as aggravated as I am. Thats the last thing I want to be doing while I am sick. When I come out of the doctors office, I am annoyed and tired, which makes me feel a lot worse than when I first came into the office. The whole point of going to the doctors is to get better, not worse. There is definitely something wrong with that.

Sitting in the waiting room also completely wastes my time. Its not like I dont have any other plans. I have other things to do during the day besides spending it in a doctors office. For example, once a year I have to get a physical at the doctors for school. Therefore, I usually have other plans during the day since I am not sick. One time I had a 12:00 appointment at the doctors, while I also had plans at 2:00 that same day. Was that a mistake! I didn’t get out of the office until 2:30 that day so I had to cancel my plans. That upset me a lot because the waiting that I had to do ruined my day, which shouldnt have been the case. A simple doctors appointment shouldn’t be the reason why I am miss out on other things in my life.

To other people, this may seem like a little deal and it may not even faze them. However, it bugs me to death! It is one of my biggest pet peeves. We shouldnt have to wait 40-50 minutes after our scheduled appointment to see the doctor. Its crazy! Whenever I think about this subject I can definitely say my blood pressure raises a couple of notches. The solution would be as simple as setting scheduling appointments accordingly leaving time in between just in case one patient runs overtime. Just this one change would make such a difference, and it doesnt take a genius to correct it. I hope one day I will be able to go into a doctors office and be seen by the doctor right away, without waiting forever.
