When you return home from an exhausting day at work, and you see the cute little paws of happiness—your pet dog—waiting for you by the door to greet with cuddles, slobbery kisses and, some lovely woofs. Your pal’s face instantly lightens up with joy by the sight of you; apparently, this picture will definitely put a smile on your tired face. All the vain of your day are washed off instantly as your furry companion lick and slurp your tired face. If you have experienced such a situation, then trust me you are blessed. The bond between humans and canines are inseparable and fathomless and it dates back to antiquity.
The most celebrated real-life tale of the Japanese Akita dog Hachiko epitomizes loyalty, unconditional love and friendship. The heart-warming story dates back to 1924 when his master Professor Hidesaburo Ueno bought him to Shibuya, a district in Tokyo. Ueno and Hachiko shared a strong friendship and the devoted little friend of Ueno walks along with him to train station and sends him off to work. At dusk, the Akita would go to the train station to receive his master from work and walks home along with him. This went on for more than a year and one day Hachiko did not witness his master return from work, as he died all of sudden from stroke while teaching. However, Hachiko was given up to the former gardener of Ueno, he would constantly escape from there and would go to train station precisely at morning and evening looking for his master, Hidesaburo Ueno.
The faithful Akita did this for almost a decade, waiting in vain without realizing the fact, his master would never return. The sight caught the attention of the commuters and station employees and later the story becomes the talk of the town when it was published in a Japanese chief newspaper. In 1935, the loyal Hachiko passed away in the streets of Shibuya and later a statue of him was erected at the same spot he would wait for his master. This heart-wrenching story would make your tears roll down your cheeks and it exemplifies the cliché ‘Dogs are man’s best friends’. Dogs are emotional being just like humans and they share many similar traits with humans. They can read your facial expressions, socialize and communicate just like any other human does. Dogs can empathize human feeling and it can get into the metal shoes of its owner.
