Durga Puja, the soul of west Bengal. The Ashwina Navratri brings the celebrations for us in Bengal. The weather itself becomes ideal to rejoice and involve in festivities. The 6th day of navratri is assigned to start the merriment. The celebration, our ‘Durgotsav’, continues for 5 days. Actually, you can say it ends with the jollity of Dussehra. The jocundity and merriment of Durgotsav – The significance Bengal is the birth place of Durga Puja. You can start a feel for Durga Puja for two months prior to the Durgotsav. There are sculptors all around, when you pass any lane. Some complete and incomplete statues of Goddess Durga will be seen everywhere.

As soon as the most awaited day comes, the handicraftsmen get busier. Those hustles and bustles are the most pleasant part of the festival. On the auspicious day, the conch shell sounds, the bells douse the whole state. Every home is decorated. The joy is all around. Big pandals are created with lights and sounds. Many architects from all over the world are invited here to showcase their best in the beauty of Maa Durga. Bengal and Durga Puja – Their cultureThe tourists know Bengali people with the tag of Durgotsav mainly. Bengal means Durga Punja, undoubtedly. The Bengali culture has a very auspicious ritual behind the eyes of Maa Durga, known as Chokku Daan.

The traditionally draped bordered saree and heavy ornaments of the statue, adds the splendour of Maa with more dignity. Many pandals has noticeable large statues that can truly seem like an incarnation of Goddess on the earth. You can literally feel the vibrations all around you. This is a land of Maa Durga and her utsav, yes the splendid ‘Durgotsav’. If you want to feel her presence once in your life, you must visit Bengal while Durga Puja. These 5 days will not only give you memories, but also bless you with the best time of your life.

The vibrant Durgotsav has colors with devotion. Those devotional colours were seen on the road of Kolkata in 2017; around 300 people patterned an alpana on the auspicious occasion. They covered 1. 4 km of road with their fidelity for Durgotsav. Assimilation the importance of Durgotsav On the occasion of Dashmi, that is Dussehra, the time to wrap Durgotsav for a while. Yes, for a while only. Because when the time for final departure of Durga Maa comes, it always has a promise with farewell. The promise says that those felicitous moments will come again with Maa in next Durgotsav. But still, the missing of vibrations, joys, and that magnificence is missed in absence of Durga Maa.
