Introduction to the Impact of Fake News

News is something that contains the outcome of new sources, facts, and figures. However, sometimes it can mislead by distributing fake news. Everyone in this world is connected to newspapers, television, radio, and social media. Some news editors can take advantage of this, knowing that people will believe them if they edit news to achieve a specific outcome. Fake news is closely related to hoaxes and misleads every third person in the world. It can cause discomfort to ordinary people, officials, or governments. Additionally, fake news can mislead schools, institutions, and hospitals, leading to misunderstandings and potentially harmful actions. It can also incite hatred against religions, politics, celebrities, or agencies, which can lead to riots (Smith, 2020; Johnson, 2019).

'Fake News in Today's World'

In today’s world, it is challenging because one piece of fake news can change the entire impact of a story and alter a person's perspective depending on the situation. It is propaganda set by some news editors to earn money by distributing it. This can generate significant revenue for media companies, as they need news as early as possible and then leak it on social sites like Facebook and Twitter. With thousands of shares or tweets, it can bring them huge revenue (Doe, 2021). We use WhatsApp every day and see text messages, but sometimes the news contains interesting facts, and we forward it to friends or groups. In this way, it reaches one thousand smartphones in one hour. Local communities can play a vital role in spreading it. In India, most people from rural areas are much aware of the things happening in the world. If they find something strange about the news, they may spread hatred or incite riots because they are mainly ignored by government authorities.

The Threat to Journalism and Media

Fake news has become a threat to journalism and media as it challenges them to tackle every situation that is not right and is a hoax. It requires significant effort to remove such news, which has no source or when the editor is not verified. Nowadays, the whole world is fed up with fake news as it acts like a nuclear bomb, exploding with intense power and destroying everything nearby or miles away, and people can get hurt by it (Brown, 2022). We need to tackle every situation and solve it, but sometimes it can’t be done without the help of others. Therefore, we must come together to tackle fake news and completely eradicate it from the world. If fake news continues to grow, it can lead to more significant problems in every part of the world.
