Smoking today in our society stands as being a display of rather exquisite luxurious character and lifestyle and is spreading in the society as being a trend or a fashion, though everyone knows the fact that smoking is highly injurious to health but yet as it persists to a greater status quo people still lean towards it, and this trend is more coherent in the younger generation, nearly 9 out of 10 smokers begin smoking before they turn 18 and almost all of them start smoking by the age of 26.

Firstly, once an individual is addicted to smoking, the need for the drug goes on increasing, it is more like a marsh, the more you push the deeper you go, moreover the stages go on increasing, first its plain cigarettes or e-cigarettes, then you level up to cigarettes with higher levels of nicotine and then a stage comes when you level up the habit to even worse drugs. The rabbit-hole goes on increasing unless the habit is intercepted and stopped at some stage, although it is never too late to quit. Tobacco kills above six million people annually and over sixteen million Americans are currently living with a tobacco related disease.

The process of quitting requires willpower and the strength lying within an individual to be in control of their needs and emotions. As there is a common misconception that cigarettes are something that help people ease up when they get stressful or anxious and under this misconception, the people despite knowing the injurious and harmful nature of the cigarettes tend to use them, and under the very misconception they become addicted to it.

Now this misconception can only be overcome by having a strong willpower and peace of mind, given the circumstances when the person realizes and faces the fact that this drug does not help in removing the anxiety and stress from their life, they can very much make up their mind to finally quit on smoking.

Quitting is not an easy process though, it is easier said than being done, it is slow and a gradual process, someone does not just wake up one day and their smoking habit goes away, even the use of shortcuts like nicotine gums and nicotine patches even the e-cigarettes sometimes are the very same thing still having that harmful nature.

Thereby, the first target on quitting this habit is to first of all reduce it with time, while doing so having a strong willpower and having the sense of self-appreciation that the right and good thing is being done by individual.

In doing so, the person remains aware of the fact that smoking indeed is a bad habit and he is doing good by reducing it and fighting the urge to smoke. With time there comes a point when the said person could completely cut out smoking from his/her life.

In achieving this point, it may take a week, a month, maybe an year but the thing is, the said individual eventually completely cuts out a bad habit from his/her life, which was harming them all along, while doing so, the sense of self appreciation also keeps the morale of the individual high so he/she may even go on to improve their life and others as well. In doing so, we have a resulting harmonious environment and maybe a better tomorrow too.

All of this does not only work for smoking but other bad and injurious habits as well. Our society today has a lot of habitual stigmas going on like alcohol, drugs and various other addictions which in turn result in unwanted circumstances created by an addict. Addictions are not only limited to substances, but actions as well, for instance a person finds comfort in rash driving, maybe in stealing, maybe in hurting themselves, maybe in hurting other individuals, in short an individual could be addicted to any possible action or substance, and every addiction whatever it maybe is harmful one way or another, and all such individuals must be brought to the realization that whatever they are doing is wrong.

All such addicts could be brought into rehabilitation centers but yet, if they do not have their mind made up to quit their addiction, no force in the world could force them to quit that habit. Therefore awareness has to be spread, targeting those specific individuals, so they realize that whatever they are doing is wrong. Then a moral sense is to be put into their minds that they are strong enough to fight their addiction.

Once an addict realizes that he/she is on the wrong path, they maybe shown and lead to the correct path, the path of self-righteousness. Once they are on the right path, they would eventually be quitting on their habits, although every addict could not be made to let go of their habits, as people have their mindsets and psyches shaped differently throughout their life, so they have entirely different aspects of life, in short we could not force anyone to quit their addiction, it generally comes from the inside, from the inner conscience of an individual.

Actually, this conscience is to be achieved somehow in order to make the individual realize that what they are doing is in fact wrong and greatly harmful for the society, and we should do whatever we could to make the society better.

Basically, the aim behind removing such harmful addictions is to create a better tomorrow for everyone, as these addictions often lead to unpleasant situations and scenarios, which in turn often damage the individuals involved within the scenario. and it is the duty of every individual, being part of the society to do everything they could to make this society better and harmonious for the generations to come, so they may experience a harmonious and a peaceful world, where there are no addictions, no harms, nothing to fight over, just harmony, happiness and peace.
