Over the last few years, I have faced several challenges in meeting my own goals for success as a student. I have lost my father and was battling depressing for over 5 years. I had issues keeping up with my life and facing any situation that came my way. This led me to drop out of college several. I have tried going back several times but there has always been something keeping me from staying and completing my courses. My daughter was born with complications and was also hospitalized in for over 4 months and was on an apnea monitor for about 14 months. I lost my father soon after, later lost my grandmother and my niece in a house fire that nearly took the lives of over 7 of my relative but luckily for us 5 of them were able to make it out with a second-degree burn. I was always suffocating the things happenings around me and became a slave to depression. I also feel like I didn’t have any guidance or support. I am aware now of the mistakes I have made and am asking for one more chance to show FSW College that I can thrive academically. Please know that school is of great value to me and I have come up with a new plan for the following semester to manage my time and school work; I believe it will be very effective for me and I will bring all my grades and cumulative grade point average up to, or above, FSW's satisfactory academic standard policy.

I learned to take charge of my life and how to deal with every situation in a manner that would not hurt me or keep me from being successful. I have now look at life differently. I have struggled a lot and know that I deserve a better and graduation from college will be the first step. I have now understood that that having an education is essential and I am determined to get educated. I am at the point of my life where I am eager to get it. I have had a rough patch in life, but I can’t really complain because I am still alive and breathing..

I have been chatting with my advisor and let me just say that I wish I had met him many years ago. I’ve set my goals and am determined to get there. I have registered to take the classes that I failed or that was incomplete to improve my academic progress. My goal is to get A’s, but I will be satisfied with a B. In high school, I was a bright student and can’t believe I let myself get to that level, but my eyes are open now and I am only going forth. I have been speaking with my academic advisor and have been looking into a Vocational Support Services workshop to improve in different areas for academic success and plan for my future. D. Describe your academic goals. My goal right now is to finish my associate's and then my bachelor’s degree, however, I have no intention of using my degree to simply survive or to just earn money. Rather, I have a dream of opening my own business focusing on seniors so that I can improve lives. I plan to maintain a great GPA and to at least take 4 classes each semester. I am determined to do whatever is necessary to achieve this goal which begins with a good education.
