You don’t choose your family. God chose it for you. Your hair, your nose, your eyes, the way you talk, the way you walk. It all came from your parents. They will love in your darkest times, they will accept you when you were at your worst and when everyone will turn back to you, they will open their arms and hug you will all of their heart. And losing them is my greatest fear.
I grew up in a simple and loving family, my dad will fetch me in school when I was in my elementary and even when I went to high school. He is a tricycle driver and I am so proud of him. He never leaves by our side when life knocks us. He protects us and loves us unconditionally. Though he is a man with few words but he never failed to show us how much he loves us. My mom, she is our strength. You can always count on my mom to have an opinion. And thankfully so. She taught us the value of forming one. She worked so hard and encourages us to study hard and do our best in everything that we do. She is the strongest person I’ve known. She constantly corrects our wrongdoings but remind us that it’s okay to make mistakes, it’s okay to stumble but the most important thing is to get up, acknowledge our mistakes and learned from it. They taught us to be strong because this world isn’t easy. And our world is defined on how we respond in adversity. The greatest among us overcome trials and seek to learn from them, that we need to fight back and stand up for what is right. They taught us that life is inherently risky, there is only one big risk you should avoid at all costs, and that is the risk of doing nothing. They taught us to love and respect people for who they are. They taught us to forgive quickly, wrong things happen and mistakes are made. Sometimes, those decisions hurt. But not granting forgiveness only harms yourself. And most importantly they taught us that education and hard work will lead us to a better future. I grow up where my parents need to work so hard in order for us to eat three times a day.
And the thought of losing them scare me the most. I love them will all of my heart and I can’t imagine losing them and living a life without them. My family is my everything. They are my inspiration. They are the reason why I study so hard and strive to be the best that I can. They are the reason why I exist and breathe. I want them to be proud of me. I want to be with them and watch them grow old. I want to take care of them and love them while they are still alive. I want to take every chance I get to show to them and tell them how lucky and happy I am because I am their daughter. That they brought me into this beautiful world. I will always be thankful for them for everything and for constantly reminding us that they will always be at our back no matter what happened. I want to see their smile because I did my best in school and their hard work pay off.
