To create a living being, one must teach and guide them through life. Victor Frankenstein put together parts from formerly living people to create a new life form. Throughout the book, the monster is getting constantly pushed away from society getting put further into isolation which causes the actions. Mary Shelley in Frankenstein puts the responsibility of the physical harm that the monster had chosen to do on Victor Frankenstein. Shelley blames the murder and wrongdoings of the monster on Frankenstein creating a living being which he was not ready to control, the responsibility of a parent, and the isolation which is forced upon the monster that caused these actions.

Creating the monster, Frankenstein had to visit a cemetery to obtain the body parts he would need for the experiment. Frankenstein goes on to say after his creation, “Learn from me, if not by my precepts, at least by my example, how dangerous is the acquirement of knowledge...  Than he who aspires to become greater than his nature will allow”. A warning to other scientists who are seeking more power. Shelley used a literary device known as foreshadowing in the quote. Frankenstein warns the reader to read on to learn from his mistakes. In the story, the monster had not done any harm at this point. The reason Shelley added foreshadowing was to give suspense to the story. While reading the book, the reader wants to know what went wrong. Immediately after the creation, Frankenstein reveals the regret of the monster by running out of the laboratory.

Parents are responsible for their children while growing and learning. Brought to life, the monster did not have family or friends with the rejection of Frankenstein. Vengeance is an inevitability to somebody that has been wronged their whole existence. Frankenstein is guilty for causing this type of pain onto the monster. Without any type of guidance and love from a parent figure, the monster becomes separated from communication to the outside world.

Frankenstein is a father to the being no matter the isolation from his creation. In the mountains, the monster asks Frankenstein to listen to its life story because he owes it that much. The monster said, “Yet you, my creator, detest and spurn me, thy monster, to whom thou art bound by ties only dissoluble by the annihilation of one of us”. Its life story was lonely explaining how it needs a companion. Explaining the torture of being turned away from everybody especially its owner not teaching it. Loneliness was getting to the monster, which is the reason it asks its creator for another it. Stating Frankenstein will never hear from them when they go live far away from any civilization. Frankenstein agrees to build another monster but comes to his senses when thinking about what kind of children they would make. Shelley uses foreshadowing again in this quote from the monster. The monster is warning Frankenstein that the ties they have is only going to break once one of them dies. Later destroys his progress on the new creation the monster got relentless.

The monster is getting turned away from society which makes Frankenstein more prone to violence. Being put into this world without any acceptance especially feeling that from its creator. Opportunity for a casual life was looking poorly for the monster. The last chance presented itself in front of the monster when it met the cottagers. “I had never yet seen a being resembling me, or who claimed any intercourse with me. What was I?” Shortly after, the old man's children enter the room from their walk and are terrified by the looks of the monster. This situation pushed the monster into revenge mode. The monster swears to cause pain to humans for how it has been treated.

Victor Frankenstein was power-hungry expecting to be looked at as a god. Expecting to create multiple life forms, Frankenstein thinks he will have children that owe him their lives. Shocked by the appearance of the monster, this changed Frankenstein's mind rather quickly. To regret bringing in a life form into the world is not fair to the monster to turn their back on it. After pushing the monster into isolation turns to violence for revenge. Frankenstein, written by Mary Shelley thoroughly portrays the consequences of Frankenstein trying to be god without knowing the dangers of his science, parents causing the lifestyle of their children, and the disconnect of the monster with society.
