Workforce diversity should be managed as it is essential for the success of any organization by equipping the human resource department with its workers. Workforce diversity encompasses all employees based on different backgrounds, age, race, and gender. Gender equity in the workplace significantly enhances the overall performance of the company through effective and favorable working conditions. Accordingly, this paper discusses the factors that enable organizations to combat gender discrimination.
Production and communication processes are the foremost strategic plans for success in any organization's daily activities. With freedom of speech among employees and employers, upward communication is enhanced, allowing for the introduction of new ideas that can improve the organization's status. An efficient flow of information and timely communication help in improving employee rapport, thereby enabling the termination of gender-based discrimination (Joep, 2014). Easing the communication channels aids in enhancing relationships among customers, shareholders, and workers, thus creating a better business image for potential investors.
Improved methods of effective communication, such as questionnaires, suggestion boxes, open platforms, and newsletters within the company, assist the HRM in identifying their strengths and weaknesses based on gender diversity. The organization's management may also, through supervision, instill a culture that mitigates the fear of gender discrimination among all staff members (Cornelissen, 2014). These platforms allow all potential employees and employers to voice their grievances without fear, thus enabling the management to take effective measures to halt oppression. Ideally, all organizations should have policies and laws that govern their operations, thereby enacting a gender equality doctrine to handle such issues. Glenn Llopos (2011) asserts that any organization seeking global market relevance must embrace diversity in its thinking, actions, and innovation.
In conclusion, gender-based discrimination concerning race, gender, and sex has significantly risen in many organizations, creating a challenge for management in its eradication. Maintaining timely and effective communication among all protocols at work will assist in enacting the necessary policies. Subsequently, the company's branding improves due to a safer working environment. Organizations must remain vigilant and proactive in creating inclusive environments where diversity is not just acknowledged but celebrated.
