In a talk with NPR on Monday morning, Bill Clinton, former president of the United States, presented his views on giving up the Clinton Global Initiative and addressed how he will transition his intentions that gave way to launching the organization to benefit Hilary Clinton’s potential presidency.
“It’s hard to think about leaving the foundation,” Clinton explained. When he first established the Clinton Global Initiative, he had done so in efforts to make a cultural and societal difference across the world. Upon viewing other foundations, Clinton analyzed how people within them were always focused on speaking about change that should be made in the world, but never focused on practicing activity to evoke change. When establishing the Clinton Global Initiative, Clinton had the intentions of getting people to promise to take action and make a difference, as opposed to simply reacting to what occurred around them and speaking about it.
Clinton’s motive was to get people to be proactive in life, rather than simply reactive. He challenged people attending the foundation to pay attention to addressing areas across America and international lands such as climate issues, as well as inequality against women and girls. Moreover, the Clinton Global Initiative served as a catalyst for collaborative solutions, bringing together diverse stakeholders to tackle global challenges.
Additionally, contrary to other foundations at the time of the Clinton Global Initiative’s launch, the Initiative focused immensely on not just issues in America but, as emphasized, international problems as well. Clinton had believed that there was much potential in working on international problems; just as much as working on American issues. This international focus allowed the Initiative to foster global partnerships and leverage diverse perspectives to address complex issues.
Furthermore, Clinton spoke with NPR on his views regarding his self-progression from the time of being president, and how he plans to help Hilary Clinton if she is to be elected into office. He explained that he is better at making decisions now than he was during his presidential years. Elaborating on this, Clinton mentioned that it is the effects of having to solve so many nation-wide issues every day, the added pressure and stress that created a sense of inhibition to him being able to solve problems in the most effective ways that he does now.
“As president, you have to make the last call,” Clinton elaborated. It can also be noted that, in addition to the pressure of having to answer such substantial questions daily, the amount of knowledge and experience that is gained from being in the position of presidency alone can make room for an enhanced ability to make such impactful decisions.
Clinton emphasized that the experience has enriched his problem-solving skills, allowing him to approach complex issues with greater confidence and insight. This personal growth is expected to serve as a valuable asset in his support for Hilary Clinton's campaign and potential presidency.
When asked about Hilary Clinton’s campaign and her possible election, Clinton explained that he would stick by Hilary and support her as president. In regards to certain emails that have sprung up questioning Hilary Clinton’s trustworthiness, Clinton commented that much of it is merely an unnecessary focus as opposed to what is really going on with Hilary Clinton in the campaign.
Clinton, having already served as president, may benefit Hilary in office if she is elected. Clinton’s expertise in acknowledging both national and international affairs, and acting upon them would significantly help decisions made in office. His ability to navigate complex political landscapes and his understanding of global dynamics would be instrumental in shaping effective policies and initiatives.
In summary, the transition from the Clinton Global Initiative to supporting Hilary Clinton's potential presidency represents a significant shift in focus for Bill Clinton. His commitment to proactive change and his wealth of experience will likely play a pivotal role in Hilary's campaign and, if elected, her presidency. This support underscores the potential for collaborative leadership and a continued emphasis on addressing both domestic and global challenges.
