Around the world, cars are roaming freely off of fossil fuels, oil and coal are getting produced, and energy is being conducted through nuclear power plants. These important activities, necessary for our daily lives, are emitting greenhouse gasses, such as carbon dioxide, into our atmosphere. The negative impact is that as they are released to our atmosphere, devastatingly trapping and absorbing heat, they’re causing global warming. Global warming is a serious issue that we need to prevent and resolve. We as a society should try to find and implement ways of prevention, such as new renewable resources, and eventually combat global warming, face-to-face.
Do you want your loved ones, innocents, and wild animals to suffer? If we don’t do anything now, the Earth will deteriorate. (pathos) Global warming is a serious issue that needs to be addressed immediately as it leads to numerous deaths from many of its repercussions. Although some might say that global warming is a hoax that won’t affect us in the near future, straightforward evidence has shown what it can do. According to the NRDC organization, climate change, a cause of global warming, is "the biggest global health threat of the 21st century”. This clearly shows what the disastrous and observable effects of global warming can do. Many other effects contribute to environmental and economic losses, for example, as land ice and seawater begin to melt, the sea level will rise. The Global Climate Change of NASA, states that the sea level “is projected to rise another 1 to 4 feet by 2100...further increase flooding in many of these regions.” Other effects include heat waves, leading to a majority of deaths from drought, the rise in temperature, and extreme hurricanes and tropical storms.
With all of these dangers and negative impacts of global warming taking place, it seems as if it’s impossible to thwart the never-ending climate change; however, many practices have been put in place to prevent and decrease the overall consequences of global warming. If we don’t help prevent global warming now, the Earth, along with its inhabitants, will immensely suffer. Prevention is the key to a greener Earth and it starts with you. You can be part of a large movement that can better help the world.(restatement) Around the world, nations have introduced policies and organizations, such as the Greenpeace organization in prevention. According to the Greenpeace organization, it will “defend the natural world and promote peace by investigating, exposing and confronting environmental abuse.” This shows us the importance of organizations that are trying to help because they can gain a popularity and stop the detrimental outcomes. Multiple methods of prevention have been recognized: tree planting, to absorb the carbon dioxide, recycling, to save the energy used to get rid of waste, and limitation, to restrain from using electronic devices. Nevertheless, there is one main key to cease global warming, new renewable resources.
The need for new renewable resources is gradual, yet it’s substantially growing as modern nonrenewable resources are negatively being looked upon for their causes of global warming. Fossil fuels in modern automobiles, petroleum in power plants, and coal for power generation abominably impact our environment. New renewable resources will be able to replace most of our modern resources and decrease the emissions of harmful greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. Replacing the nonrenewable resources will be the beneficial renewable resources, most of which are energies: solar energy, water, the wind, and biomass. Using these renewable resources, we can prevent global warming from start to finish. Although these new resources take some time getting used to, need to be incorporated in most of our everyday activities, and might not instantly improve our environment, they will slowly but surely lower the emissions and combat global warming. A common method is to replace fossil fuels, like natural gas in automobiles, with solar energy or even water; instead of using petroleum for nuclear plants to power our houses, we can use solar panels or energy-efficient windmills. According to the Union of Concerned Scientists organization, “Compared with natural gas, which emits between 0.6 and 2 pounds of carbon dioxide equivalent per kilowatt-hour (CO2E/kWh)...wind emits only 0.02 to 0.04 pounds of CO2E/kWh”; in other words, these renewable resources have a profound effect in combating global warming, contrary to resources like oil, coal, or fossil fuels.
Global warming is caused by the emission of greenhouse gasses into our atmosphere. It has negative effects on our Earth, yet we can withstand it by using methods of prevention. Some negative effects include the rise of the sea level, increase in temperature, and extreme weather patterns. As a whole, we shall find and incorporate a renewable resource, we shall find an alternative to replace nonrenewable resources, and we shall further help the environment by decreasing harmful emissions(parallelism). It won’t be easy to sacrifice our essential resources. It won’t be easy to implement methods of resolution. It won’t be easy to fight against global warming, but it can happen if we all envision a greener future for our Earth. (repetition)
