Music inspire people because they can express themselves. Music can also tell you about the artist history or life story. Imagine Dragons are an unusual band that consists of four members which are Dan Reynolds, Daniel Platzman, Wayne Sermon, and Ben McKee. The band had originated in Las Vegas, Nevada in October the year 2008. It all started with the singer Dan Reynolds and a drummer called Andrew Tolman, they had met each other in 2008 when they were students at Brigham Young University. They both had a similar passion in music, the pair started to recruit members to achieve their perfect envision band.
Then, came along Tolman’s friends Daniel Platzman, Wayne Sermon and one of Sermon’s college friends Ben McKee. The band started out in Provo, Utah before they moved to Las Vegas, where they had, finally, released three mini albums. Their first EP came out in 2010, it was followed by an additional one the same year. The band didn’t waste any time and finished another album a year later before they got a recording deal for their full-length release. The band had got their first performance when they had got called to step in for a band called Train at a Las Vegas Festival because the performer of Train was sick, and his band couldn’t perform and due to the event Imagine Dragons popularity increased ever since the festival because of the positive feedback from the concertgoers. After the band released their 2012 full-length debut Night Visions, they spent nearly two years bringing their fervently inventive brand of alt-rock to arenas around the world. Imagine Dragons produces different types of music for example; Pop rock, Indie rock, and, Alternative rock. Their song Demons which is on the album Night Vision falls under the genre Alternative rock and pop rock.
The main theme of the song demons is speaking about a dark side inside of you, one that no one is proud of, the one that conceives you that you are a disappointment by mistakes you’ve made in the past and recognizing them by bringing them to the light and not getting dragged by them. Letting go of the past may be one of the hardest things to do in life. It is depressing to understand that there’s nothing you can do to change past mistakes and that those are always going to be with you and can forever haunt you. We all have demons, but it’s up to us to choose if we want to acknowledge them or whether we plan to keep them boxed away and allow them to cause more damage. The song tells that we all have flaws and it isn’t in our control.
