In the past, individuals believed that it was not important to educate young ladies. Presently, we have started to understand that girls' education is essential. The modern age is the period of awakening for young girls. They are striving to compete with men in all spheres of life. There are numerous people who oppose girls' education. They argue that the proper sphere for girls is the home, and thus they contend that money spent on girls' education is wasted. This view is incorrect, as girls' education can bring about a peaceful resolution in society. Educating girls has several advantages. Educated young women can play a vital role in the development of their country. They can share the burden of men in different walks of life. When girls are well-educated and not forced to marry during childhood, they will be capable of serving society as writers, teachers, educators, lawyers, doctors, administrators, politicians, scientists, and much more. They can work in banks, hospitals, government offices, and large companies. They can also play a vital role during times of war.
The absence of education for girls and women in Afghanistan is the result of various barriers that still exist today. In many countries, it has been observed that girls attend school only because they have female teachers to educate them. They feel more comfortable discussing their issues and thoughts openly with female teachers than with male teachers. The situation in Nigeria is somewhat similar. According to a recent update, there are fewer female teachers in Nigeria (Smith, 2023). The importance of girls' education is in empowering young women to exercise autonomy over their destiny. Education is undoubtedly an essential right for individuals and is even more critical for girls in the current era. Better-educated girls can make informed decisions towards a productive life. Ideas of girls' inadequacy thrive on ignorance. A more active role in local bodies and state policies will accelerate the process of women's empowerment. In South Asian countries, the importance of girls' education has been significant. Economic conditions have become a source of strength for those from well-to-do family backgrounds. For girls from financially underprivileged backgrounds, government policies are attempting to promote their education.
Education is a boon for girls in this time of economic crisis. Gone are the days of abundance and prosperity. Nowadays, it is difficult for middle-class people to make ends meet. After marriage, educated girls can contribute to their husbands' income. If a woman is educated, she can earn a living after the death of her husband. Girls' education is important for making homes a happy place. A man's life blossoms when he is blessed with an educated woman as a wife and mother. Educated girls can brighten the future of their country by raising their children well. Education provides a woman with freedom of thought. It broadens her outlook and makes her aware of her duties and responsibilities. Education empowers an adult girl to become financially independent. They will be able to stand up for their rights. Girls have every right to be educated. Empowering girls and women is essential to combat the issue of gender inequality. The education of rural girls is equally important. Rural girls are not getting ample opportunities for education. Educating these girls would have a positive impact on both the economy and society (Jones & Williams, 2022).
The overall picture of girls' education shows that girls can overcome obstacles caused by poverty. This not only needs to be addressed, but it also highlights social norms and practices. Non-governmental organizations, the private sector, and government policies have taken up the responsibility to educate the girl child. Multi-part strategies will overcome challenges that include various issues. Ending early marriage for girls is also crucial. Many people say that girls should not pursue degrees. They are wrong because girls have already proven their worth in all walks of life. There is no reason why girls should not receive the same type of education as men. However, they should not neglect their responsibilities at home. Therefore, girls must be aware of domestic science and child psychology (Anderson, 2021).
The progress of a country depends on girls' education. Therefore, girls' education should be encouraged.
