I am proud to say one of my greatest achievement in high school was when I got inducted in at the National Honor Society ceremony last spring as a new member. Such a rewarding feeling knowing my high school teachers found the compelling qualities of hard-work, reliability, trustworthiness, a highly esteemed role model, my confidence and inspiration to others. My teachers and educational authorities believed that I embodied the four pillars of NHS – Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character – and considered me eligible for membership. That is why my experience with The National Honor Society is the topic of this essay.

Scholarship is academic achievement of a student. A inner drive to pursuit to acquire knowledge on a higher level. This inner drive directs my paths towards achieving that ultimate goal. It is that push that I consider to be a strong motivation or self-discipline that keeps encouraging me to stay on the path until I achieve that the accomplishment that I have set out to acquire. The day I started my attendance in High School, I realized that in order to reach my full potential, having the right mindset was important. This is the story I carry around with me each day in my head. Throughout my high school studies, I have applied for scholarship as a dedicated ingredient that motivates me to be the best that I can academically in my educational quest. As I work extremely hard to keep a 4.0 GPA, I not only willingly devote hours to studying but also make numerous sacrifices to reach my fundamental objective. Scholarship is a continuous urge for me as a student to never stop learning. I have the incentive to continually expand my mind and to be able to keep up with this changing world. Moving on to college after high school I am already equipped with a positive attitude and self-discipline scholarship to assist with my accomplishment. As I continue my educational journey there will be challenges, some of which will be laborious however, I am already furnished with that inner drive to succeed.

Leadership is the ambition or ability to succeed. An important trait that I utilized daily in high that will help prepare me for the future and will also contribute to my future success in different areas of my life. Most significantly practicing leadership in high school has helped to build my self-esteem. A few months ago I was elected historian in my senior class. As a leader, I am responsible for documenting the important events for the senior class and creating memories for others to come. In this role, I need to work with and inspire not only my peers but everyone around me. I work hard in my appointed role to accomplish what is expected because in order to get the job done I believe that I must go the extra mile.

In spring of 2018, I stand adamantly with thousands of other students in my community on the “March Against Gun Violence”. I made this stand for my voice to be heard because that is what a leader does. I volunteer through NHS to help tutor anyone in my high school who need assistant. Tutoring my peers who are in need, helps to improve their academic performance and also give them support and confidence as I aim to help others and inspire.

As I go toward my future my acquired leadership skills that have I have gained will allow me the ability to lead by example.

For three years I have volunteered as a Sunday school teacher assistant to teach and interact with three and four-year-olds children. I have visited the local nursing home with my local Lutheran church members, once each month to participate in a brief prayer service and after to socialize with the senior citizens by playing a game with them, taking them for a walk on the compound, read the news to someone or just talking to them about anything. I worked with the YMCA in my town to organize coat drives for the homeless during the winter over the last two years. Another volunteer service that I am proud to share with you is about the local soup kitchen, where I help to serve the local people from my community who need food, warm clothes, and a smile.

Participation in a community service gives me the chance and also opens up the possibility for me to be an involved individual in my school, church or job and gives anyone that permanent and accomplished effect on the society. Volunteering services helps me to achieve indefinate life skills and wisdom, and in addition offers me that chance to help someone in need. I enjoy doing Community services as it’s involvements is richly rewarding to anyone who gives back to their community. I find it also to be very important as I learn how it teaches me compassion and understanding. In my opinion, I believe this to be a very important pillar. This enriched self-achievement demonstrates that these opportunities and power I have to improve and leave my mark not only on my local community but anywhere I should go in this world. I am going forth into this big wide world equipped with gain wisdom, develop skills and confidence.

Character identifies who we truly are, it distinguishes the uniqueness of each individual. Good morals, ethics, and character can make you successful in school and life. Character shows leadership, discipline, and respect. I have always believed in the importance of success. During my educational journey in high school, my character determines how well I achieve my goals and contributed highly to my educational quest. Character is another pillar that I consider to be highly priceless, as I continue my journey beyond high school. I have been gifted with the priceless gift of character. Armed with honesty, respect for others, self-discipline and integrity.

What can be improved
The essay provides a solid foundation by discussing the four pillars of the National Honor Society: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. The author's personal experiences lend credibility to their claims and demonstrate a commitment to these values. However, there are several areas for improvement that could enhance the overall effectiveness of the narrative. First, the essay would benefit from more concise language. Some sentences are lengthy and could be streamlined for clarity. This would make it easier for readers to grasp key points without losing focus. Second, clearer transitions between ideas would improve the flow of the essay. At times, it feels as though sections are presented in isolation rather than as interconnected elements of a cohesive narrative. Adding transitional phrases or sentences can help guide readers smoothly from one pillar to another. Additionally, incorporating specific anecdotes or examples related to character development could further enrich the discussion. By illustrating how particular experiences shaped their character, the author could provide a more vivid portrayal of their personal growth. Overall, with these refinements in writing style and organization, this essay has the potential to leave an even more profound impact on its audience while effectively conveying the author's journey aligned with NHS values.
