The Beatles were such a great influence in music and music history. Their creativity of experimenting with different music styles made them unique. The Beatles brought such happiness into people’s lives through the music they make. Each person in the Beatles had something good to bring to the table. Not only did they work well together as a good team, but they were able to create many records that made them very well known in the music industry. One ponders why was it that the Beatles were so important to the history of rock and roll. Not just that, finding out their personal background, who influenced them in music the historical period they arrived, and how their music separates them from what came before or after, helps to figure out how far the Beatles have come in their journey. The Beatles are still admired today for all the records they were able to make through having helpful people work alongside with them.
The Beatles were a band that came during a time in history called the “British Invasion”. Each of these members were from England and they all somehow met by fate.
The first member was John Lennon who became one of the guitarists and singers. He was born October 9, 1940. Throughout the years, he showed early signs of creativity in music, a love for poetry, and drawing. The second member was Paul McCarthey who became a singer and a bassist. He was born June 18, 1942. He started to show his love and passion for music. These two artists taught themselves how to sing and play music. These two gathered up and wanted to expand the band. That’s when George Harrison came in 1957, a lead guitarist, and then much later came “Ringo” in 1960. Now each person has been influenced by different kinds of people with all sorts of styles. John Lennon was influenced by Elvis Presley, and the rebellion culture. Paul McCarthey was influenced by Little Richard. In addition, they were influenced by Skiffle, who were formed by the blackjacks then Quarrymen. Through feeling inspired by all the influential artists, they started to slowly put themselves out there in the music industry. It’s amazing how they were sought out so quickly by so many people. According to Britannica, they say, “In autumn 1961, Brian Epstein, a local Liverpool record store manager, saw the band and fell in love. He became their manager and proceeded to get music companies to sign with them a contract.” Turns out Epstein eventually did get them into a contract with Parlophone, which is a big music label group. Epstein really helped out the Beatles grow in so many ways.
Another person that became aware of who the Beatles were was George Martin. Another important aspect to recognize is, according to Britannica, they say “The man in charge of their career at Parlophone was George Martin, a trained musician, that suggested the band, hire a more polished drummer.” George Martin was one important person who helped the Beatles reach their fullest potential. He became their producer, and he would always contribute his ideas to help lead the group into a pathway of success. Another person that was an important factor in the Beatles upbringing was Mal Evans. Mal Evans meant a lot to the Beatles because of all that he would do for them. According to the site, Beatlesnumber9.com, they say, “He became friends with the band, and was soon hired as a roadie. But, he had more responsibilities and tasks to do. Some examples were: he would be the driver, equipment manager, body guard, etc.”. He was very helpful when the Beatles needed him the most. That was a great example of someone that they could count on for him being so reliable and responsible. Now, Mal Evans was not just their only security and roadie.
Neil Aspinall is another example of someone who became very important for the Beatles empire to grow. Neil Aspinall worked with Mal Evans because there were many responsibilities that one could not do alone. According to telegraph.co.uk, they explain how, “He went on to run the group’s business empire for 40 years plus became their original road manager. He single-handedly turned the Beatles into the world’s highest earning band, and one of its biggest brands”. His contribution really helped the Beatles rise to stardom. He would sacrifice so much of his time to help out the group in every way that he could. The last example of someone that really helped the Beatles out was Pete Best. Pete used to be the drummer before he got replaced by Ringo later on. According to ultimateclassicrock.com, they say, “He was the most popular beatle with their female fan base. But, the fame soon began to slip away. One of the reasons he was fired was because of his jealous looks and the members didn’t like how he was getting all the attention”. He was an icon as being part of the band from the fans. But, the fans were not able to enjoy his presence too much longer because he was released in 1962, when they were just starting out. Another reason he was fired was experts from the site: www. Allthatsinteresting.com say, “Due to the patterns of bad behavior such as not showing up for gigs, and getting sick often, be became very unreliable. So then they realized Ringo should replace Pete’s spot”. If he would have behaved himself, and did what was asked of him, he would have maybe been given another chance. But, he was fired and Ringo Starr became his replacement, because the Bealtes knew he would he had what it takes and was more passionate about his job.
The Beatles arrived during a time called “The British Invasion”. It took some time before the Beatles were not only recognized in England among others, but in America. The time that they came was during a time of death and shock of what was to come next. According to an article Rollingstones.com, they go on to talk about the Beatles and how, “their songs offered such love, joy, and prosperity. The Beatles tried to empower the people from their music; people never thought their influence during this time would change the history of the world’s music”. One of the songs that had so much meaning behind it was, “I just want to hold your hand”. This song was their first single and not only was it a song with such a good meaning behind it, but it sold a quarter million copies in the US within a three day span of time. During their era in the 60’s, they had multiple hit singles that became famous in Britain, which was the country they came from, and also America. The Beatles began to show their audience what they were capable of and what they could do with making a difference in the music industry.
The Beatles had something unique to offer to their audiences who would listen to them. People quickly began to love the way they would make their music. As their music skills started developing over the years, they not only became experienced of what they wanted, but their popularity started to go up. According to Jake Hughes, who is a Beatles expert, he goes on to say that, “What made them separate from other artists was because they had the ability to work with so many genres in music.Experimented with Skiffle, 1950’s Rock and roll, pop ballads, psychedelic rock, and bits of classical music.” They liked to experiment with different genres because they wanted to be a band that was unique and creative. Their goal was to invent music that people have never heard before that everyone would like. Jake Hughes also mentions how, “Very soon, the Beatles played a number of influential gigs on town and this is what made them so popular with the changing society of the 60’s. They influenced many kinds of people but more importantly, they influenced the way that the younger generation would dress, act, and live their lives.” The Beatles became influential during this time for people to look up to. They made people happy in so many ways, and many people felt inspired by how they were making a difference in the music industry.
The Beatles will always be admired due to how they made a difference during the 60’s and how they mixed different genres of music. Their influence in the music industry will live on and their ability to spread many fine qualities such as joy, and happiness to many audiences will always be remembered.
