  1. Joan of Arc’s life before the fight
  2. After the battle
  3. Conclusion

Joan of Arc (Jeanne d’Arc in French) nicknamed “The Maid of Orléans” is one of the strongest women in history, she is a French girl who was both severely poor and very religious. The people of France to this day still see her as their saviour.

France is one of the most highly developed countries from the old days but during the battle they were quite outnumbered, but the question is, would France be the same without Joan of Arc and I say it would have been quite different, some proof of this is that the English had already started making some drastic changes to France as they started to take over. One of these changes was England had already forced the king of France to disinherit his crown and give it up to an English one. There were also times when Joan could have given up or failed her missions to save France, like the time she was refused if she was not determined and came back again France would have continued to lose the war. France has many things that make it unique like its food, fashion and their language, if the English had won the war they would have to give up all those things and be forced to do what the English did. The french were already mentioning they were ready to give up as they had been beaten by the French numerous times and were uncertain of knowing if they would be forced to stop speaking French, without anyone to save them and they were losing hope but Joan had changed that all.

Joan of Arc’s life before the fight

Joan was born in the 1400s, exactly 1412, she was the daughter of a farmer, Jacques d’Arc, they are from a village Domrémy located in the northeast of France. Joan is from a poor family so she was not educated on how to read or write, despite this her mother had caused her to have a deep passion for the church and what it teaches. The time this was going on France had been in the middle of a battle with England, during this battle England had the upper hand against France. Soon at 1420, a peace treaty was signed but Charles of Valois had to give up his crown and made King Henry V the ruler of France and England. England had occupied north of France and the people in Joan’s village were forced out of their homes. At the age of 13, Joan started to hear voices, she had set her mind on thinking the voice was sent by God to give her a mission, this mission was to save France and make Charles its rightful king. At the age of 16, Joan’s father tried to arrange a marriage for her which she had then went to court and convinced them to not allow her to be forced to marry someone.

After the battle

After Joan had successfully brought France to victory her reputation spread across all of France, Joan and the people who admire her had took Charles across enemy territory to Reims, they went taking towns that resisted force and starting his coronation as King Charles VII in July 1429. Joan wanted to retake Paris but Charles wavered. Georges de La Tremoille warned him of Joan and how she was becoming too powerful. They had fortified their positions at Paris and started an attack led by Joan in September.

Conclusion

If Joan had not returned after being rejected the first time or had died tragically in battle France would still be around today but it would be changed quite a lot, the foods would be different because the French cuisine is quite different from English dishes. The clothing would be completely changed as well, most french dresses were all puffy and big when English clothing was slimmer and smoother. Another thing that would change would be the countries that speak French, these places could still exist today but just not French speaking and have different names from what they are called today.
