Katherine Johnson is known as one out of three African Americans; to work in the (NASA) field , that was hugely overlooked by only white men. Her courage and steadiness , played a huge role being one of the few African Americans to join the NASA program will forever live in a lifetime.
Katherine Johnson, born August 26, 1918 in West Virginia. And tragically died February 24, 2020 due to a dramatic age. Growing up early Johnson had a very exquisite mind. Her thought process was yet superior for her young mind. While she was 10 , Katherine was already enrolled into highschool. Few years later , in 1939 , Katherine was then selected out of 3 African American students to be enrolled to go to West Virginia University. As she graduated college she accomplished degrees in mathematics and French.
As Katherine was growing older she saw how her world and community was crafted by hate, and disgrace of color and more. As of this her idea was to show a difference. This wouldn't have all happened without her professor “William Schieffelin” William was a Black mathematics teacher for Katherine , he taught her to make a difference and to inspire the world in different aspects. Johnson wanted the best for her community. As for her courage, she worked in the (NASA) program; where little women , and blacks to work for. Her goal was to prove how strong African Americans were and the female community. Jobs aren’t only offered for males , but females as well to strive for their community.
The most important success in Johnson's life was being known for being in a group of NASA employees called the “Computers’’ This came into conclusion for being known as a African American woman who outshine mathematics. As of this status of working she made sure astronauts had a safe landing and she measured the weight space.
Johnson Influenced this population , not only for girls but for the African American society as a whole. To teach the upcoming generations of blacks and other races bashed on for their color. That color doesn't affect anything; the inside determines your faith. Katherine Johnson affects my thoughts on women, knowing anything can be accomplished whether you’re Black,White,Asain, or other race. Even gender , Knowing she was the first African American to board the NASA program will always inspire me to know anything can happen when you put your mind and heart into it.
