Laughter is Safe and effective medicine for today’s generation. Medicine here doesn’t mean medicine, but something which carries medical properties. We take medicines to heal our bodily ailments and recover from that state this is what laughter does to us. The discovery of mirror neurons – what causes us to smile when someone smiles at us proves that laughter is contagious. Current study and researches indicate that laughter has many positive physiological benefits. So far, these benefits have been small and not yet widely spread, but in this era of preventative medicine, they indicate that research on laughter is not timely and useful but also potentially fiscally sound. This is because laughter is free and often without any side effects. Laughter helps us to stay focused and connected with others. It kills the negative states of mind.

Laughing not only makes us calm and happy but also plays an important role in our life. A recent study out of Loma Linda University has found that a positive laugh can help in maintaining good physical health. Researchers have found that laughter lowers the blood pressure, makes us tension and stress-free, protects us from a heart attack and cardiovascular problems, reduces blood sugar levels, boosts our immune system, reduces fear and also it burns calories. According to researchers 10 to 15 minutes of laughter per day can increase the total energy expenditure by 2 to 10 calories. According to the research of Western Kentucky University laughter can kill cancer. Problems are many but there is a single solution i.e. laughing. Within the bounds of happiness, however, both humor and laughter can be beneficial. Humor eases tension and is a great antidote to a stressful situation. Laughter boosts our memory level and makes our soul feel fresher and lighter. And researchers proved that laughter is the best way to forge bonds. It helps family and friends to come together and strengthen their relationship. Shared laughter is one of the most effective tools for keeping relationship frees and active. When we are depressed or sad, laughter is the best therapy for it. One cannot feel anxious, angry or sad while laughing. Laughter falls into five categories:

  • Spontaneous laughter: It is also known as genuine laughter. Humor belongs to these groups. This is unrelated to one’s free will and is triggered by different stimuli and positive emotions. After researching other studies (n=33 and n=21) it was determined that natural killer cell activity was higher in the people who watch comedy shows/videos compared to the control. Another study of 20 subjects tells us those amusing movies produced a similar increase in epinephrine and norepinephrine levels an aggressive movie.
  • Stimulated Laughter: It happens as a result of the physical action of certain stimuli. It is a frequent source of embarrassment when practiced with strangers.
  • Induced laughter: It is chemical like laughing gas.
  • Pathological laughter: It is often associated with crying and tends to be uncontrollable and excessive.
  • Voluntary Simulated Laughter: It is the most universal and inclusive way to tap into our intercellular pharmacy and use laughter for health and wellness.

According to the MCET, simulated laughter can capture the beneficial benefits of spontaneous laughter. A study showed that women laughed about 126% more than their male equivalent, while men seem to start laughter the most interesting application to increase the bonds in relationship. In short, laughter is a safe and effective medicine that cannot be replaced by any other thing. So do not hesitate to laugh often no matter how tough the situation may become. If you can laugh out loud irrespective of any problem in life, you will be able to overcome any problem in life and solve it sooner or later.
