The tell-tale heart begins on the eighth night as he was peering in at midnight, and perhaps the old man heard it because he startled awake. He wonders if anyone was there. After waiting a long while, he decided to open the lantern and a single ray fell upon the old man’s eye. The beating of his heart became louder until the neighbors would hear it, so he decided that he would take this moment to attack. The old men shrieked once before the narrator pulled him to the floor, and throw the bed on top of him. He pulled off the bed and examined the body. The old man was dead. Then, he dismembered the body in a tub to collect the blood, and then buried the pieces under the floorboards. Someone knocks the door, and he found three policemen. He invited the policemen inside and encouraged them to search the place. He explained that the old man was out of the country, and that he was the one who had screamed due to a bad dream. His own chair was placed directly over the body. As they talked, the narrator began to hear a noise coming from the floorboards. He recognized it as the beating heart of the old man. He tried to talk louder to cover it up. He knew they must hear it, and they had to suspect what he had done. Finally, he couldn’t take it anymore and told the policemen to tear up the floorboards to find the dead body. The grandfather and his little grandchild it’s about a grandfather got so old that his legs didn’t work anymore, he was blind, deaf, and he didn’t have any teeth. His daughter-in-law got tired of the mess he would make at the table, so she made him eat behind the stove out of a cup. One day he fumbled with the cup and broke it, making a mess. The daughter-in-law began grumbling about that and said from now on she would feed him from a wash pan. A day, or so later, the daughter-in-law and son were watching the grand son play with blocks on the floor in their home. The boy was obviously building something with a concentrated passion. His father asked him what he was building. The small boy replied, “Why, Mother, Father, I am building a wash pan, for when you get old I will be able to feed you from”.
Some difference of this two books is that Tell-Tale Heart is a scary story write down by Edgar Allan Poe while The Grandfather and his little Grandchild is a narrative story. In Edgar Allan Poe’s story the main character is the narrator, because the narrator describes what sees the character that kill the old man, but on Leo Tolstoy’s story the main character is the grandfather because is the ones that describe his feelings and what he thinks. In Poe’s story the scenery of it is the old man’s house and the scenery of Tolstoy’s story is grandfather’s house or mom’s house. The climax of the horror story is when the police officer came to the house and start talking and in the other story the climax is when the grandfather sees his grandson making him a wooden plate.
Some similarities of both story is that both stories make the reader complete the story at the end and trying to know what happened to the main character at the end. Also, something that both stories have some kind of equality is that the narrator makes a huge role on the story because in both of them the narrator is in the story and describes what he sees. Edgar Allan Poe Born on January 19 1809 was an American writer, poet, critic and editor best known for evocative short stories and poems that captured the imagination and interest of readers around the world. Many of Poe’s works, including “The Tell-Tale Heart” and “The Fall of the House of Usher,” became literary classics. Some aspects of Poe’s life, like his literature, are shrouded in mystery, and the lines between fact and fiction have been blurred substantially since his death in October 7 1847 and Leo Tolstoy born On September 9, 1828, he was born in Tula Province, Russia. In the 1860s, he wrote his first great novel, War and Peace. In 1873, Tolstoy set to work on the second of his best-known novels, Anna Karenina.
